...and now there's a big f*cking parade marching right down the street. Oh, joy. More NOISE.

HEY ASSHOLES! IT'S NOT EVEN JULY 4TH YET, I WISH THE BRITISH HAD BEAT US, AND YOUR BAGPIPES ARE IRONIC, CONSIDERING WE'RE CELEBRATING INDEPENDENCE FROM ALL THINGS CULTURAL!

Ahem. /rant

*shares my happy place* <- Sephiroth runs around naked here.

I'm sorry about all that :( but the bit about the bagpipes did make me giggle. America tends to do this but eh, I won't get into politics.

*hugs*

Oooh, a very happy place indeed. :)
Saturday, July 3rd, 2010 03:32 pm (UTC)
There are bagpipes? I've never seen/heard bagpipes on the fourth of July (erm, or the day before the fourth of July). That is VERY IRONIC.
Saturday, July 3rd, 2010 03:33 pm (UTC)
Oh fuck. I am so sorry. Bagpipes are like the worst noise ever, too. Maybe you can set up a tripod from your window and mount a nice, high powered rifle with a precision scope for just such occasions. Sure, there might be a bit more noise, but once they scatter, it will be peaceful again. =D
Saturday, July 3rd, 2010 05:52 pm (UTC)
It didn't last long. I actually love bagpipes, it just didn't make sense to me. :)
Saturday, July 3rd, 2010 11:22 pm (UTC)
YOu might have actually liked my first band ever. It was composed of the worst instruments known to man (on purpose). We ranged in ages between 11-13 and played in JP's mum's garage. We had in our full lineup a clarinet, harmonica, accordion, bagpipes, banjo and tuba. The banjo and accordion were the hardest to sneak away from the band members' respective parents. We were called the Dog and Wombat Formation Drinking Team and we sucked. The cops got called on us once, so we considered ourselves an official band after that. XD

LOL, yes, that sounds like something you'd do. Too bad you're not still otgether, I might have been a fan. :)

Bagpipes? WTF? Normal people are completely insane. Buuuuut, this should cheer you up! Kuoshitsuji the musical! Either you can skip to just the songs:
Yes, my Lord : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DwGFJUmO_GA&feature=related
Black or Red : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZxkFBJXS5lU
Which are my two personal faves, or you can watch the whole musical as it was recorded on DVD, the first part of which is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-WC-V2kGwzI&feature=related . And all of them are subbed for your viewing pleasure!
Saturday, July 3rd, 2010 06:03 pm (UTC)
Just spreading the love! So many Kuroshitsuji fans don't know about the musical, and they need to!

You should invest in a pair of noise-canceling headphones. They make life so much better you have no idea.

Until then, I'll keep the door to my silent corner open! It's shaped like a giant library and the only sounds are the turning of the pages and soothing instrumental music (if you so choose). And it is filled with fluffy pillows! I'm working on getting cookies in there too. :)

Silent corner! *snuggles it, brings Oreos*
Saturday, July 3rd, 2010 04:58 pm (UTC)
Augh! Over here, we have the really loud, booming fireworks that started yesterday. It's not constant, which is... actually making it worse for me. I can't just settle into some sort of pattern and attempt to tune it out like white noise. But unnecessary parades are... unnecessary. *thinks of Demetri Martin's unnecessary bells*

What's amusing to me about this was right before I saw your post on my flist, I was thinking about how stupid it is that so many Americans don't know that we're supposed to be celebrating our victory over the British. I logged in this morning and said to my British friend: "Good morning, past oppressor! Tomorrow we're going to blow shit up to show you we don't need your tea anymore!" America. And people wonder why everyone else hates us.

One of my British friends keeps trying to convince me to move in with her. Sometimes I really, really want to. Did you know there are transexual-friendly bathrooms there?
Monday, July 5th, 2010 02:47 pm (UTC)
That is ao awesome. *sigh* If we tried that here, the Mormons would crap their magical undies in horror.
Monday, July 5th, 2010 03:11 pm (UTC)
And then they'd be too afraid to rinse them out in the bathrooms. Well, unless they were in their homes at the time.

I find it, you know, interesting that initially we went through such trouble to separate church from state and... we've been doing a fantastic job keeping that up.
Saturday, July 3rd, 2010 05:14 pm (UTC)
Dang, I didn't think there were enough Scotsmen in Jersey to field a bagpipe band. Bagpipes remind me of funerals, not Fourth of July. This time of year must a real treat for you, with the parades and fireworks and all. (/sarcasm)
Saturday, July 3rd, 2010 05:58 pm (UTC)
Oh, yes. The bitter colonist really enjoys her FREEDOM. /sarcasm

I did like the equality-flag people who were playing Lady Gaga, though.
Saturday, July 3rd, 2010 05:14 pm (UTC)
Seriously, why do you guys like bagpipes so much? They're not that great. Or do you just love Scotland that much?

*does not understand why anyone loves bagpipes played really, really loud*
Saturday, July 3rd, 2010 06:00 pm (UTC)
Yes, we do, and yes, they are.

We don't have culture, so we must nab other people's. Simple, really.

Now I want tea. :)
Sunday, July 4th, 2010 12:18 am (UTC)
In that case, here have some bagpipes and bearskins. You'll like them, they're the hats the Queen's guards wear.

Also, tea.
Sunday, July 4th, 2010 01:36 pm (UTC)
OOOOH. *puts on hat, falls over* Um, you didn't see that.

Is it loose tea or teabags? We only know how to work tea bags here. :)
Sunday, July 4th, 2010 01:45 pm (UTC)
I prefer tea bags, less bits. Although tea leaves can be fun, but they kind of fall apart in the bottom of the cup and taste weird.

I tried desperately desperately desperately to find my Union Jack t-shirt, but couldn't find it, so I wore my Chairman Mao communist shirt instead.

FUCK the fourth of July. I hate my psycho-Christian republican town. Churches were all "You caaaan't have a parade on Sunday." Why not? Oh God forbid, I'll just be smited on the spot. Or what is the past of smite? Smitted? Smitten?
Sunday, July 4th, 2010 01:37 pm (UTC)
OMIGOD, you too? I also live in a psycho-Christian town. It's small and pretty, but sheesh, so Christ-y, it makes me twitch.

:) Fight the power, Livi-Pants.
Sunday, July 4th, 2010 12:39 am (UTC)
At least it wasn't a homemade cannon, like one of the dipshits in my neighborhood has...They seem to delight in setting it off at WTF o-fucking-clock in the morning, and the cops can never seem to find them...And it really is a small replica cannon. They were showing it off at the neighborhood flea market. I just wish I'd remembered who the fuck they were! The damned thing sets off car alarms a half mile around it!

On the bright side, it just rained a fair amount, so at least I don't have to hose down the house tonight as a preventive measure. I don't mind watching a professional display, or even a good amateur one...What I hate seeing is stupid people, kids, or teenagers shooting bottle rockets...or bigger things...at each other, cars, or houses.

Fireworks are technically illegal here, but the cops will do nothing if you're not being a nuisance, and even then they'll warn you, then confiscate what you've got out in the open if you keep shooting them off. I don't mind the sensible ones putting on a display for friends and family...I do mind the drunken asshats shooting them at houses.
Sunday, July 4th, 2010 01:38 pm (UTC)
Sounds so fun. /sarcasm :)

I'm so glad no one thought of using a cannon here...although someone did fire a gun during the parade, it scared the bejeezus out of me.

HAPPY JULY 4TH! (Officially)

Seriously, bagpipes? And a parade on July 3rd? Wow, I never knew that our 4th of July was on the 3rd! (Can you hear the heavy sarcasm one-day-early-parade-designer?)

Bagpipes? Never knew America was such a musically rich nation where we don't always listen to sugar-pop and decide to worship boys with high voices and people who can't entertain. Seriously, bagpipes? We're the electronic and synthetic nation! Almost nothing sounds R-E-A-L anymore!

*pauses* Whoops, I was suppose to make you feel better but instead started ranting... :/

To make you feel better, I'm making more pretty Sephiroth fanart. He's angry in one of them and he has his hair in a ponytail in another....Well, I'm working on the ponytail one but soon there shall be pretty art! :)

Hope you feel better amarissia!
Sunday, July 4th, 2010 01:39 pm (UTC)
Pretty Sephy art will make me feel better, yes.

I know it's unpatriotic to say it, especially today, but GODS I want to be European. I'm sick of red, white and blue and pseudo-freedom and crazy Christians.
