Evil vegan sister dragged Amarissia to mall last night, one of my least favorite places, but I seem to be, weirdly, one of her favorite people to shop with, despite my tendency to make a beeline toward shiny things and generally act all twee and scare the shopkeepers. It's all an elaborate defense mechanism to shield my anxious self. Also, I like watching sis's eyes bug out.

On the way out, we stopped for fries for her and a mocha fudge milkshake for me, which I forgot to order without whipped cream. I hate the stuff, figured I could drink around it, and ended up carelessly ingesting a fair amount of it. By the time we got home I had to race to the bathroom, shaking, in a cold sweat. Clearly I was right all these years to avoid whipped cream. Who the hell has that kind of reaction to a dessert topping? Except Zack, thanks to Marchwarden.

Zack: "I'm fine with Zangeal stories now." *blush* "It's just embarrassing."

In Bleach news, we have encountered Cloud's voice as well as Sephy's -

Cloud: "We get to be shinigami! YAY!"
Zack: *pout* "No fair!"

- OneFive still refuses to listen to the warnings I helpfully screech at the screen, and after our initial sighting, Captain Chibi remains elusive. In Japanese news, the online program I use for vocab study keeps giving me a sample sentence that I will never, ever be able to pronounce. Try saying the below a few times fast and see if you can hear the Choir cracking up at you.

Kuni wa kokugo kyouiku o kyouka shite imasu.

Dear Japan,

Was serious about earlier request. Ease up on Ks, plz. Also, keep suggestive/porny anime coming. Arigatou gozaimasu.

Amarissia

Captain Chibi comes up soon enough. He even has his own filler episode in which he pwns the pathetic mortals in football. I liked that episode. *squees*
What online program do you use? *is curious* I had a look online, but I couldn't find any good ones.
Sunday, June 27th, 2010 05:49 pm (UTC)
Football? HEE. Do you know around what number is that? I'm still way back on episode 32.

The one at smart.fm. You can learn tons of stuff there, I'm doing a multi-part core Japanese course that helps you master the most common 2,000 words.
Sunday, June 27th, 2010 04:33 pm (UTC)
You also act strangely in large shopping places? I have a tendency to act stoned; I twirl my necklace or the end of my braid and my eyes go really big. How far are you up to in Bleach? Those silly, illy people who live inside the TV; they never listen *shakes head*
Sunday, June 27th, 2010 05:50 pm (UTC)
Ep. 32. So many to go...poor Rukia is still imprisoned...

I imagine I look very wide-eyed. And from moment to moment, either terrified or childishly delighted by something shiny or smooth. I like textures...
Monday, June 28th, 2010 07:57 am (UTC)
I like sounds - I absent mindedly clock my nails against things or rattle jewellery. Have you met Renji yet? Do you like Rukia? I'm so so on her and have gone for liking Quincy. How are the choir reacting?
Monday, June 28th, 2010 03:25 pm (UTC)
I like Rukia a lot; so does Zack. He's a big fan of shinigami in general, ever since Yami No Matsuei. Cloud loves his cousin Ichigo and also Chad, because he likes big guys with big hearts. Sephy is enjoying the story, Angeal too, and Genesis is liking the bishies. :)

Have met Renji, he's okay, I guess. I think he may have died. Last I saw him, he was damaged and having an episode-long flashback...
Tuesday, June 29th, 2010 08:00 am (UTC)
I remember the Cloud and Chad connection well *nods* oooh flashbacks, yummy. And not filler at all ;p have you had any shipping urges yet?
Tuesday, June 29th, 2010 02:51 pm (UTC)
Not yet, I'm still trying to sort everyone out. Genesis and I have declared OneFive the official fandom uke, but that's as far as we got. :)
Sunday, June 27th, 2010 05:39 pm (UTC)
Yikes, sounds like an evil variety of lactose intolerance. I was nerd enough to give that sentence a test run. Having a decent number of vowels in there helps. I'm used to German with all its raspy throat-clearing ch-sounds and high consonant to vowel ratio.

Hi, my name is Mary and I'm a member of Screen Screamers Anonymous. (Hi Mary!) My weakness is talking back at cutscenes, like busting on Zack for spending his leave doing squats.
Sunday, June 27th, 2010 05:52 pm (UTC)
Cloud: "Silly, your name is Robonun!"

:)

Cloud: "Are you still stuck in bed? Are you taking plenty of naps?"
Zack: "Hey, squats help me think!"

So you can say the evil tongue-twister sentence? YAY! *pins ribbon* Now you can tell people, in Japanese, that your country is strengthening its native language program.
Sunday, June 27th, 2010 08:15 pm (UTC)
Whew, thanks for the translation. I was afraid I was declaring a preference for sheep and leather. XD

Yep, the bed rest will continue till September. I usually try to avoid napping during the day so I can sleep at night. And I'm not sleeping much at night either because I don't get tired enough to doze off. It's not a good lifestyle choice, especially not for energetic SOLDIER trainees.
Sunday, June 27th, 2010 08:59 pm (UTC)
LOL, well, you have to trust my translation. :)

Yike...well, at least you get to hide from the harsh sun and heat outside. Or you can claim you're doing it for peace, Lennon-style.

Let us know if Cloud bounces on the mattress too much, he's excitable. Generally you can calm him down with a story, as long as it has either butterflies, windmills or Seph in it. :)
Sunday, June 27th, 2010 05:54 pm (UTC)
*trying to undo the knot in my tongue*

That's as bad as hagaren... ^__^

Ohh... that doesn't sound good, that part with the whipped cream. But you can drink milkshakes? Maybe it's the amount of fat in the whipped cream that you can't handle? *pets you* I'm sure you'll be fine again soon. :)
Sunday, June 27th, 2010 07:27 pm (UTC)
Worse, even! :)

I'm feeling much better now, thanks. But I was right all along and feel very smug about that. Whipped cream is evil. It's just too creamy.

Come to think of it, I never feel well after any kind of milkshake...I just love them... :)
Sunday, June 27th, 2010 08:25 pm (UTC)
Ouch! What a crappy reaction. I hope you feel better now ♥
Normally I love shopping... for an hour or two. After that long, I'm begging to leave.
Your fascination for shiny objects reminds me of my sister xD
Since I like tongue twisters, let's give it a try. *tries saying it* I can say it but I think I pronounced some words wrong since I don't know japanese xD I only know a few pathetic words ¬¬ I wish my college had a program to learn it, but they only have mandarin...
Sunday, June 27th, 2010 09:02 pm (UTC)
Much better, thank you.

Shiny objects are AWESOME. I have a very racoon sort of mind. :)

Like so: "Koo-ni wa ko-koo-go kyoh-ee-koo o kyoh-ka shtay ee-mahs."

Now ten times fast. :)
Sunday, June 27th, 2010 11:34 pm (UTC)
Ah, I knew the u's and the "shite" was supposed to sound differently o.o ... ten times faster? If I twist my tongue I'm sending you the doctors bill xD
Just so you know... you got me hooked to that website. My summer will be spent in front of the computer learning languages and trivia stuff.
Monday, June 28th, 2010 03:25 pm (UTC)
:)

Awesome, isn't it? Glad I got ya hooked!
Sunday, June 27th, 2010 11:20 pm (UTC)
I haven't set foot inside of a mall in 16 years. Except for once when I had to use the bathroom really badly and one other time we were cutting through one as a shortcut to food before we all exploded from low blood sugar (yep, it was a con weekend and we all forgot to eat for HOURS). Good lord, I hate malls. Not only is it full of horrid, sheep-like crowds, it is full of absolutely nothing I want to buy.

HI ZACK. I'M EDITING THE NEXT PART TO THE STORY! Should be posting it tonight. ;D
Monday, June 28th, 2010 03:27 pm (UTC)
Try suffering through a New Jersey mall. It's like walking through an MTV reality show...literally makes me nauseous.

Zack: *blush*

OMIGOD, REALLY??? *grin*
Monday, June 28th, 2010 08:25 pm (UTC)
Awww I'm not a fan of Whipped Cream either. Just... bleh. Hehe.

Cloudy voice is an interesting character in Bleach... its hard for me to get used to the character but he is kinda cool. And according to Wiki (which sometimes or most of the times, is wrong) Seph voice does three different characters. I dont know if its right but yeah... Seph voice is a weird one in Bleach.

Anyway! Hope you have a good day! =D
Tuesday, June 29th, 2010 03:15 am (UTC)
Zack: "Seph gets THREE characters? NO FAIR!"

Zack really wants to be a shinigami.

Zack: "They're bad-ass."
Tuesday, June 29th, 2010 06:03 am (UTC)
I'm sorry Zack... if I remember right Wiki told me you weren't in it. =( I wanna be a shinigami too! It would have been awesome if Zack voice was in there... but the anime isn't over yet and Wiki could always be wrong. =)
Tuesday, June 29th, 2010 05:08 am (UTC)
Ha! You should try potential form! That's a tongue-twisting nightmare.

"Kasa o karirareru."

I just gave up. I hate the r/l sounds. And that many in a row is just cruel.
Tuesday, June 29th, 2010 02:52 pm (UTC)
K...k...my brain hurts.
Tuesday, June 29th, 2010 06:55 am (UTC)
Ugh, that one's even hard for ME to say!
Tuesday, June 29th, 2010 02:53 pm (UTC)
Oh, great, I'm really f*cked, then. :) Or possibly, that's comforting.
Tuesday, June 29th, 2010 08:36 pm (UTC)
Don't sweat it, I think even Japanese nationals may find it a little difficult. I know any NY born would. We confuse -ku/gu sounds and erase -d from words (ie: 'tadaima' becomes "taa'a.Imah")
Wednesday, June 30th, 2010 05:14 pm (UTC)
Really? *intrigued* Any problems with pronouncing 'ryu'? I still have trouble with that...
Thursday, July 1st, 2010 04:43 am (UTC)
I used to, but I had a co-worker/friend named Ryou and got over it quickly. The trick is to softly say the -r sound and focusing more with the y__ part. A good example is the world "ryoukai!" (roger that) that sometimes has that semi-silent -r sound.
Thursday, July 1st, 2010 01:43 pm (UTC)
*tries* Okay, I think I'm getting a little better.

LOL, I didn't know there was an r-sound in that word at all!
Thursday, July 1st, 2010 07:17 pm (UTC)
I think it's kansai-ben that drops it though. <-- is not too sure.
Friday, July 2nd, 2010 03:06 pm (UTC)
As though Japanese isn't difficult enough, let's add some dialects into the mix. *groan* :)
Friday, July 2nd, 2010 03:29 pm (UTC)
Actually, Kansai-ben isn't too bad. It's a lot different then Standardized Japanese (what you see on most TV shows/movies) but after a while you get used to it. I do have to admit that there are some Osaka sayings that are mind shatteringly difficult to understand, but that's to be expected. It's OSAKA, they just HAVE to be different. XD

If you're interested, http://web.mit.edu/kansai/ is really good for learning Kansai-ben. I've been using it to get used to that dialect since if/when I move there, I will probably go to Hyogo which speaks it.
Friday, July 2nd, 2010 03:54 pm (UTC)
Oooh, thank you.

Cloud: *tug tug*

What, honey?

Cloud: "Zack's voice uses Kansai-ben sometimes." *nods* "Uh-huh."

Oh, is that why I can't understand a word he says? Or maybe it's because he talks so damn fast...or I get distracted whenever he laughs... :)
Wednesday, June 30th, 2010 12:41 pm (UTC)
Is vegan sister evil begause she's vegan, or is she evil, and vegan is just a side effect? Figured it was somehow related or you wouldn't have mentioned the whole vegan thing ;D hehehe.

Your journal = ♥
Wednesday, June 30th, 2010 05:00 pm (UTC)
I mostly say it to differentiate her from the other sister I occasionally mention - the one who got my into Final Fantasy - because they're very different. I may also on occasion refer to evil vegan sister as militant Lakers fan or obsessive Beatles fan, but it's the same one. I guess obsession runs in the family... :)
