Catching up, catching up. Trying to be more social keeps getting in the way of my important correspondence. And now I'm getting sleepy, already. Gah. Okay. I got a new (new to me, at least) laptop and have left The Weapon of Mass Distraction to the tender, less-anal-about-frequent-scanning mercies of my sister. Yike. I'm liking the new one, it's simple and good for a single person who's tired of not knowing what the hell half the programs do. But I don't do change well, so I'm getting used to it and getting it used to me. And gah, how am I gonna come up with as good a name as the previous?

So, all of the comments I have not yet gotten to, I will, I promise. I'm off now to rest...this thing...a bit, and reward my tweaking efforts with Korean horror ("Whispering Corridors", how did I miss a classic?) and maybe some Bleach.

I is luv you all. Ooh, and Mona, I love your quotes! Yes, finally saw the full video. :)

I have a name suggestion for the laptop. In honor of the WMD you could call this one the Improvised Expressive Device, to go along with the theme of "things that make you go boom."

LOL...okay, that's definitely a contender. It's between that and The Fiendish Thingie.

I love Korean horror movies x3 Although one of the last ones I saw made me depressed (Tale of Two Sisters)... And the one I need to finish will probably traumatize me and I'll never look at redish/pink high heels the same way again...

squee! glad it worked! XD and yes, ive seen "jesus camp" and almost wrote my sociology paper on it but it made me so angry, my hands shook too much for me to write a rough draft. oh dear, aunt flo is evil. she came to visit me for every opening night of all my shows this year.

I may have avoided her for another month...yeah, I'm super-irregular. GO AMARISSIA! Giving the finger to nature for...many years now...

Yeah, best to avoid Jesus Camp unless you're in the mood to be really scared/pissed... :)

"The Weapon of Mass Distraction"? Awesome!

Haven't talked to you in a while, how have you been? Apart from the laptop-change, that is. Choir giving you any trouble?
Friday, June 11th, 2010 12:14 am (UTC)
:)

Okay...little too much walking. The weather's been too nice to resist, but agh, I don't want to move for the next few days. The Choir is the same as ever, except Cloud is a little more excited than usual, since there's butterflies all over the place. :)

Cloud: *waves* "Do you have butterflies there too? They flutter, like this!" *flaps arms*

Gah, I wish the weather here was that nice. Well, it is, for one day. Then it starts pouring again. Repeat pattern.

I think our butterflies are a little afraid to come out yet, because it's still raining. I expect they'll come fluttering whenever it clears up permanently :)
Sunday, June 13th, 2010 05:14 pm (UTC)
Cloud: *bounce* "I've been seeing lots of butterflies! Little white ones! I hope yours come out soon." *drifts off into happy daydreams of windmills and butterflies*

How about "the toaster". It would be funny for people who weren't in on the joke, such as "Has anyone seen the toaster? I need to check my LJ!" or "pass me the toaster". And explaining "I'm sorry this is delayed, the toaster broke!". Or "Mom, the toaster won't let me watch this movie!" , "the internet on the toaster has broken again" to the repair guy. Oh, the endless posibilities...
Friday, June 11th, 2010 12:19 am (UTC)
LOL...good one, but Genesis is very destructive toward toasters, so that might be disastrous.

Genesis: *glower*

He always leaves his Pop-Tarts in too long.

Genesis: "I don't! The toasters sabotage meeeeee!"
Friday, June 11th, 2010 11:10 am (UTC)
You can't get Pop-Tarts over here... :(
Don't worry, Gen. The toaster's just jealous because it knows it can never be as hot as you! *strokes ego* And besides, you could always call it some different household appliance, such as the hairdryer, or the microwave. Or "the video in the washing machine is acting odd!"
Sunday, June 13th, 2010 05:15 pm (UTC)
Genesis: *slighlty mollified* "Perhaps that's it..."

Yike. No Pop-Tarts, no Lucky Charms - where do you get your sugar intake????
Sunday, June 13th, 2010 05:25 pm (UTC)
I have five spoons of sugar with each cup of tea. If L can do it, so can I! That, and all the pocky I bought at Expo. God, that stuff is amazing... Have no fear, I am reaching my RDA of sugar!

New laptop, hm? I wish I had a new one - my current one is going to go off to Australia with my daughter in July... >.>

Oh well, guess I have to stick with my big tower instead. :)

I'm sure the name will reveal itself to you. :)
Friday, June 11th, 2010 12:21 am (UTC)
The new one is being difficult...it works fine in most ways, but the cd-rom won't recognize DVDs, which is a huge pain. I think I need to update the driver or something...we'll see what the eggheads at Dell say...

Big towers are always better. You can reach in and fiddle with things if the fancy takes you. :)

Hmm... *ponders* If only I could pronounce it, I could give it a German name. Maybe Japanese...?
Friday, June 11th, 2010 10:28 am (UTC)
Won't recognize DVDs? Hm... that's usually a hardwareproblem. Was ist billed as having a CDRom/DVD drive?

Yes, I do occasionally fiddle, though I leave most of the work to the experts. :) But there's always room to put *more* fun stuff in. ^___^ And it's blue. :) Blue is important.

You could call it... "Erschaffer des Untergangs" (="Creator of Doom")

*gg*

Sunday, June 13th, 2010 05:17 pm (UTC)
Nope...I'm thinking it's probably a driver problem...gah, I hope it's not hardware. I really don't want to have to yank the thing out and replace it.

Uh, I think I hurt my tongue trying to pronounce that. Kudos on using so many vowels, though.
Sunday, June 13th, 2010 05:28 pm (UTC)
See... we can manage vowels! There are *six* of them in there... *gg*

Hm... I was always under the impression that if a drive wasn't billed as being able to handle both formats, then it couldn't. But I could be wrong... I hope not...

Went for a walk on Friday afternoon and discovered a teeny, tiny bit of woods that is fenced in, right in the middle of the fields. Snuck inside, because the gate was open. And spent a lovely half and hour just sitting in the middle of that little wood, away from everything, listening to and watching the birds all around me! There had to be a nest in pretty much every tree! And all of them occupied. Lots of fluttering and flying and scolding through the leaves! Especially when I moved a little bit.

Also found tons of snail shells - all different colors and patterns. Cloud would have *loved* this little piece of paradise. :)

Six is a good number to start with. :)

Dell Support gave me a link-downloady-thing (I'm so technical) to try to fix the problem, but I haven't tested it yet. Too lazy to restart. :)

Oooh, sounds like a lovely place for faeries. And Cloud, if he ever gets away from Sephy's watchful eye.
Monday, June 14th, 2010 10:50 pm (UTC)
I re-counted... there are 7 in there. *gg*

Hm... I hope it works...

Yes, it definitely is a faery place. And I'd love to take Cloud along the next time I have leisure to take a walk there... ^___^
