Can't talk long, I must do some Japanese study and FORCE MYSELF to write and possibly snatch back my markerboard from Cloud, since he appropriated it for picture-drawing and I got it for the purpose of kanji practice.

BUT, I wanted to share a bit of joy, namely that I actually had a conversation today with someone I haven't known my whole life, which for me is a big big deal. I was returning Silent Hill Origins to GameStop because I can't handle the constant weapon breakage and the looming threat of Pyramid-Head and his mannequin-defiling and ended up chatting a bit with the very nice clerk. About games we like, and anime, and yeah, apparently I really need to see Bleach if I want to keep calling myself an anime-fan. It's like being a Lord of the Rings fan who's never seen the Bakshi version. Anyone familiar with Xenogears? Clerk-Guy said it's the coolest RPG ever, although he also loved FFVII (and specifically said Cloud is awesome :)). He's not a fan of VIII, though. Guess the Squall/Seifer sexual tension doesn't do it for everyone.

SO. I have triumphed over Fatal Frame 2 with no pants-wetting (just barely) and I seem to be functioning better socially, but the important thing is that today, a total stranger called me an otaku. *GRIN*

Ok I'm having one of my stalker moments when I'm going “Awww, yay for you!” and then realising how stalkerish it probably is for some random person to say that XD
But whatever: YAY! Congratulations, I guess?! Or is that just me going OTT XD
Soon, you will be taking over the world, I know it - and it will then be a VERY much better place X3.

Also, I hope you do better with Bleach than me...I hit fillers, decided my life was worth maybe a lil' more than them, and gave up X3

:) Even if it's stalker-ish, thank you.

I've been warned to skip whole arcs of Bleach...although that only makes me curious about them...
Tuesday, March 30th, 2010 09:40 pm (UTC)
Man, awesome that you had a conversation with a random stranger! I love having conversations with random strangers, especially GameStop clerks.

Although, the last time that happened to me, the clerk was so cute and so knowledgeable and helped us find free games and cute and awesome and yay that I had to say yes to everything he said. HE WAS JUST THAT MAGNETIC. Of course this eventually amounted to:

Clerk: And you can subscribe to our magazine for an extra $12!
Me: Okaaay~!
Clerk: You get this discount card too--
Me: Anything you say <3 <3 <3.

This, while I was...on a date, at the mall. Teehee. He recommended some RPGs that I then never got around to playing. x.x ANYWAY. I never really got into Bleach, but perhaps I should. Let me know if you check it out.
Thursday, April 1st, 2010 10:28 pm (UTC)
LOL...I've got the magazine and the card too, now. It was my mother's fault, though. I was like "This is mostly stuff about systems I don't even use!" and she explained that the sweet gay clerk charmed her. DAMN YOU SNEAKY GAMESTOP CLERKS, they must all go to charm school or something.
Tuesday, March 30th, 2010 09:52 pm (UTC)
Whee, I'm not dead! I think I might have fooled Vinny for a bit.

Anyway, yay! At this rate, you're doing better than me! Chatting it up with a total stranger is still on the list of Things I Should Do But Am Terrified Of. Having a conversation about anime and FF and related things with a stranger is on the other list of Things I Would LOVELOVELOVE To Do But Am REALLY Terrified Of. Ngk...

Well, Bleach, um...I dunno. I was really into it for a while, and then...it just sorta died for me, I guess. I haven't watched/read it in AGES. But I did read a hilarious fanfic of it just last week! I'll totally rec it to you if you want! Complete, total, OOC but fun crack XD
Thursday, April 1st, 2010 10:30 pm (UTC)
...will the fic still be funny even if I don't know ANYTHING about the series? Wait, I knew the orange-haired guy's name...but I forgot it. And I know you're not supposed to mock the silver-haired guy's height, because he is actually a bad-ass captain of...something or other. Also, he sounds like Edward Elric. HEE.

VINNY thought you were dead? That's not good. That's like having Eeyore concerned you might be depressed.

Good to know it's not just me. :) I was having a low-anxiety day...and apparently, if you start talking to me about a special interest, like a game series, I start babbling like a total normie.
Thursday, April 1st, 2010 11:07 pm (UTC)
Mm...I'll wait until you get decently far through the arrancar arc then. Er...the second season, I mean. Not including fillers because they suck. I really need to start watching Bleach again. Just got done with APH, so I need something to do.

Ooh, short-white-haired-captain-kid is my favorite character! And I rofl at the similarities with Ed too :)

Well, not that I was DEAD, per se. He thought I might have been online-dead, which would be great for him because he wouldn't have to endure my psychobabble. But I'm back!

Vincent: "Unfortunately."

I had this period where I sort of visibly displayed my fangirliness to the public by sticking pins on my backpack, hoping that someone with similar interests would comment and we'd be able to start a conversation. Didn't work. I'm bad at this social stuff...
Thursday, April 1st, 2010 11:14 pm (UTC)
OOOH Hetalia? Did you see the latest episode, with Japan giving American survival horror games? IT WAS EPIC!

I think the little silver guy will probably be my favorite character, I'll just need a nice unequal relationship to put him in. HEE.

Zack: *shudders*

Vinny! You be nice to Erava, she loves you very very much. You need to hang out with more people who aren't imprisoned in ice sculptures.

Did you ever consider a t-shirt that says "OTAKU"? It will keep undesirables away and bring the like-minded closer. :)
Friday, April 2nd, 2010 10:24 pm (UTC)
OMG, I lol'ed at that too! With America being all "That monster was so cute!" And Japan all "...wtf?"

Hmm, unequal relationship...I did see one doujinshi with him and Gin. That's the other silver-haired guy with the creepy smile. I'm unreasonably fond of him, considering that he's a villain. But my Bleach fandom was during my "yaoi? Er...(shift uncomfortably)" phase, so I really can't think of anything at the moment. Though I've seen a whole bunch of Gin/not-Death-Note-Kira. They've got the creepy-superior/willing-subordinate thing going for them.

Vincent: "It's not that I don't...appreciate her. She is rather...energetic at times."

*gasp* That has got to be the nicest thing you've said about me ever! *glomp*

Vincent: *dodges* "You see?"

I would get a t-shirt, but then I'd get unwelcome questions from parents. They think I'm way too into everything non-educational already. -_-;;;
Friday, April 2nd, 2010 11:29 pm (UTC)
Poor, poor Japan, stuck with crazy America and all those weird Europeans. :)

Aw, Vinnie, that WAS kind of nice. *pats him* Now give her a nice big hug, or I'll let Cloudy glomp you.

Cloud: *being restrained by Sephy* "HI VINCENT!"

Hmm, do your parents know what "otaku" means? :) You could say it's an educational thing.
Sunday, April 4th, 2010 09:11 pm (UTC)
Vincent: *eyes Cloud warily, gives hug*

Yay! *squeezes*

I can't really pick a favorite APH character, but Japan is definitely among them :)

Nah, that'd never work. They'd automatically assume it was anime-related because it's Japanese-sounding. -_-;;
Monday, April 5th, 2010 01:19 am (UTC)
Cloud: *clings happily* "I love you Vincent!"

Awww. :)

It really is hard to pick a favorite..although Italy, of course, is almost unbearably adorable, especially when he interacts with Germany. :)

Well, some anime is educational. Hetalia kind of teaches history, right? LOL
Tuesday, March 30th, 2010 10:23 pm (UTC)
GRATS! :)

Glad to hear you had a great day so far! ^___^ And that you got such a wonderful compliment. *GRIN*

Hope the rest of it is as great as the start! *hugs*
Thursday, April 1st, 2010 10:32 pm (UTC)
:)
Tuesday, March 30th, 2010 10:47 pm (UTC)
Yay! *gives cookies*

I also have not seen Bleach. Mostly because it's still ongoing, and they are up to like what, episode 250 or something? And when I do watch a show I tend to watch it all at once, and it would take me far too long to catch up on Bleach at this point. I am so lazy ugh.

I need another Zack icon. This one makes everything I say look like I'm confused or something.
Thursday, April 1st, 2010 10:33 pm (UTC)
You mean you're not? I am perpetually confused myself, on this odd planet surrounded by humans and their crazy moon logic...but that's neither here nor there. *hides Mothership*

I do that too, I like to devour a series all at once. With Bleach, that might be fatal. Hmm, is that why it's called Bleach? It's potentially poisonous?
Tuesday, March 30th, 2010 10:59 pm (UTC)
Yay, you made a friend! In celebration, I give you a story about Pyramid-Head and a tonberry.

At a convention x-years ago, I had the privelege to witness a fight between a -stupendouds- Pyramid-Head and a -godly- Tonberry. This was a full costume, with a huge wire-frame head and a paper mache knife. They poked at each other for about five minutes, then hugged and started dancing together. Epic win was epic.

Bleach is... eh. The manga is very good, but the anime has a bunch of filler, which makes me indifferent to it. But it's worth it to watch the first few episodes, at the very least ^^
As for Xenogears... I know that Cloud talks about it in Mideel... while he's mako poisoned... XD Apparently, it's a good game, but I haven't had the chance to play it yet.

And talking about Squall/Seifer tension... DB2020 is just as amazing as you promised XD There are a few other good writers that I found on Noire Sensus. Race, Rain, and darksquall are all reeeeally good. Go look?
Thursday, April 1st, 2010 10:36 pm (UTC)
Omigod...that would be a total nightmare for me, since Tonberrys scare me nearly as much as Pyramid Head. And good thing Choir!Zack wasn't there, he would've flown at the Tonberry and tried to get a picture with it.

Zack: "Tonberrys are AWESOME."
Cloud: "Hmm, I mentioned the Xeno game?" *giggle* "I don't remember. Mako makes your head all funny."

The guy was telling me that every aspect of life can be found in Xenogears. The graphics would usually turn me off, but now I'm intrigued.

I know, right? :) Did you hit the one where Squall has a son yet? :)
Friday, April 2nd, 2010 03:46 am (UTC)
Yeah, that's the one I'm reading right now! After I get finished with it, I'm going to write her, tell her how awesome she is, and then beg that she gets a beta reader, because she has so many errors with her hononyms XDDD

Now I want to find a picture of the awesome Tonberry, just for Zack...
Friday, April 2nd, 2010 11:50 pm (UTC)
Zack: *is keeping safe distance* "You can't bribe me with Tonberry pictures! I am NOT having kids!"
Angeal: "Now, if you could get him an autograph..."
Zack: *shoves* "Angeal!"
Angeal: "Kidding." *whispers* "Keep up the good work."
Wednesday, March 31st, 2010 12:55 am (UTC)
victory! Even the small ones count, trust me, I feel you on that one!
Thursday, April 1st, 2010 10:37 pm (UTC)
:) Thank you.
Wednesday, March 31st, 2010 01:57 am (UTC)
I'm one of those LOTR fans who didn't see Bakshi's version, well not in its entirety anyway. I couldn't make it past the first 15 minutes... XD

The first 60 or so episodes of the Bleach anime is a quite a good adaptation of the manga although it misses out on some of the character dynamics. If you find the anime interesting, I'd suggest reading the manga.

Someone once told me that I couldn't call myself an anime fan until I've watched a decent chunk of the shounen troika (namely, One Piece, Naruto and Bleach)... O_O;
Thursday, April 1st, 2010 10:39 pm (UTC)
AGH, you have toooooo! I don't watch it any more, to be honest, Peter Jackson's version just blew all the others away, but you need to see it once! :)

Speaking of Bleach *points to your avatar*, is that orange-haired guy? I can never remember his name...

OH GOD, not Naruto, I'll do anything, I'd rather watch Pokemon...well, no I wouldn't, but pleeeeease, can you write me a note excusing me from that one? :)
Saturday, April 3rd, 2010 03:50 am (UTC)
OK maybe I'll give it another go... once I'm done with all my anime that is... XD

Yes, that's Ichigo :) *fangirls him* Just think of 15 (ichi+go) or strawberry (also pronounced "ichigo" in Japanese but with different kanji) and you'll remember his name soon enough ;)

LOL. "Amarissia is excused from watching Naruto as noisy lead character, highly repetitive flashbacks and Uchiha wank will destroy all her muses." :)

I've actually given up on Naruto after 400+ chapters of manga. :P
Saturday, April 3rd, 2010 03:17 pm (UTC)
:) Thank yoooou!

Hmm. *looks at avatar* He doesn't seem too scary...maybe I will be okay with Bleach...especially now that I don't have to worry about Naruto, that'll save an insane amount of time... :)
Wednesday, March 31st, 2010 04:21 am (UTC)
LOVE XENOGEARS!!!!!!!!!! I got it on the PS network when my internet was being coopertive sometime in January. LOOOOVED it. Good thing I snagged it, too, as I almost had to snatch my Nerdy-Uncle's old Playstation from Irvine and take it hostage for a few weeks....months....years......*cough*forever*COUGHHACK!!!*

And I just have an undeniable urge to give you a massive hug right now. *glompsqueeeeeezehugcuddle!!!!!*
Thursday, April 1st, 2010 10:40 pm (UTC)
*squeezes back* :)

So it's that good? Guess I'll have to dig around for it, clerk-guy told me I might have luck on eBay...

Cloud: "You're coughing, are you sick?" *offers Vincent plushie*
Wednesday, March 31st, 2010 05:09 am (UTC)
Xenogears is a REALLY good game. It's a classic so it's near impossible to find and really expensive for those who manage to do so. I remember when I bought my copy in 2002, it was a major pain to find. I had to go through several people to get my hands on it and pay over $30 for a used copy. Now that most places no longer carry PSx games, I'm guessing it will be harder.

One nice thing about it though is the slash possibilties. The main canon pairing is het! but there are so many slash-able characters to balance it out. Game-play isn't overly hard once you get used to it, but I must worn that the voice acting )the little there is) is TERRIBLE. It's also pretty long for a 2 disk game. But I really do recommend playing it if you can find it. Citan ftw!

And remember, "We are... Men Of... THE SEA!!" God there are just too many funny parts/ xD
Thursday, April 1st, 2010 10:42 pm (UTC)
There's voice-acting in it? Oh wow, I guess it's not as primitive as I had thought. That's good...except it's bad voice-acting? Well, that could be funny...

And since I recently paid more than $30 for a second copy of the first Fatal Frame, I'd be happy to find one I've never played for that. :) We'll see...
Friday, April 2nd, 2010 03:33 pm (UTC)
The cutscenes are animated too, so it's easy to tell its psx-gen. Honestly though, I think you'll like this one.

Fun fact: Most Japanese call ps1 system "play-stay" (pu.re- su.te-) PS2 / PSP are called by full name.
Friday, April 2nd, 2010 11:39 pm (UTC)
Pu-re su-te? I like that. Reminds me of how "Playstation" is said at the end of commercials. "Pu-re-su-te-shon!"

I'm keeping an eye out...maybe if I see one for less than $50 I'll grab it...I don't think I'd want to spend more on a game I'm not sure I'll like...
Monday, April 5th, 2010 07:09 pm (UTC)
Yeah, I always hear that when I think of playstation too. Speaking of which, my brother and I are going to buy our PS3/FF13 today! \(^o^)/

I'm not sure there are any where you are, but a company called "Play & Trade" (it's like Gamestop but better) is great for finding old games no one else carries anymore. The one by me has a nice selection of psx & older games as well as some imports (sold one of my old ones to them for $10 towards ff13) so check it out. Online Xenogears (new) is about $90+ so...
Tuesday, April 6th, 2010 04:29 pm (UTC)
Play & Trade, I'll look for that! Thanks!
Wednesday, March 31st, 2010 05:59 am (UTC)
I'm glad you had a good conversation with the GameStop clerk. All of the people I've met at the Gamestops I've gone too are cool.

Bleach is great... obviously I love it. It's my current obssession haha, its slow at times, hard to follow at times, dumb and crazy at times but totally worth it. Especially once you get into the Arrancar arc and all that jazz... best part ever. Lots of people fall out of it at that point, saying it gets away from the plot but I disagree. Its great, I know I've told you that before so I'll stop babbling about it.

Anyway, YAY NO PANTS WETTING! =D
Thursday, April 1st, 2010 10:43 pm (UTC)
Oh, that's right, if I get confused I can come screaming to you, right? I'll be waking up the muses at all hours with my questions. :)
Friday, April 2nd, 2010 01:25 am (UTC)
Yesh, I'll gladly answer your questions at any time. The guys will help too, haha. Just don't get discouraged like I did long ago. I stopped watching it for like 3 years because I was young and didn't wanna spend time understanding it, haha. You'll be good, I'm sure. You are smart.
Wednesday, March 31st, 2010 10:41 am (UTC)
Ah, talking to strangers is indeed a difficult task. Strangers always want to talk to me.

I don't think I've ever been to a GameStop - I bet they don't appear in Britain or a really rare or something - but we have the occasional nice clerks in Game (which is probably the equivalent of GameStop). I kind of want to work there now.

Oh and the Bleach manga is probably better than the anime. There are more plot threads and stuff. And less filler.

How can all the Seifer/Squall UST not be enough for everyone. I mean, yes, the battle system is confusing and annoying and the whole enemies level up with you and don't even get me started on Triple Triad, but still. Seifer and Squall have enough UST in the first half hour or so of gameplay to make it all worthwhile.
Thursday, April 1st, 2010 10:45 pm (UTC)
I get that too, I apparently give the impression that I'm nice, which is so unintentional...

But...manga doesn't move! :)

I know...I played FFVIII before I was into yaoi or even knew the word, and my sister and I laughed at Seifer/Squall through the whole thing, about how we were, in our opinion, on a quest to get our gay hero back to his estranged boyfriend. And Zell and his hot dogs were the subject of much cackling as well...
Friday, April 2nd, 2010 09:31 am (UTC)
Ah Zell and your hotdogs... how many can he fit in his mouth again?

I always get little old ladies talking to me at bus stops. They think I'm 'safe'. If only they knew.

Hey, just because it doesn't move doesn't mean anything. You know how in anime they censor the naughty bits? Manga? Yeah, they don't exactly do that. True there might be a bit of fuzzing or blurring, but you can still see everything.

I swear, whoever made FFVIII's plot must have really wanted to shove in loads of gay subtext. I mean, as if Genesis wasn't obvious enough, just give us an ambiguously gay duo and bucketloads of UST.
Friday, April 2nd, 2010 11:45 pm (UTC)
Depends on who he's practicing for. :)

Oooh, that's true, huh, no censoring? HEE.

Nomura and the FF team are all laughing at us, I swear. They put in all the gayness to tease us, the brilliant meanies!
Wednesday, March 31st, 2010 01:27 pm (UTC)
GameStop clerks can be pretty cool if they're really into games. Also RPG game store clerks. Whenever we visit our friendly local game store we have to schedule in an extra half hour for chatting up the staff.

Haven't seen or read Bleach, but I hear there's a metric shit-ton of characters to keep track of. It shouldn't be a problem for a Mirage of Blaze fan. :)

Cloud, give Amarissia back her markerboard. You've got reams of paper for butterfly drawing. Just maybe add a couple of butterflies in the corner to make it pretty.
Thursday, April 1st, 2010 10:48 pm (UTC)
The ones I've met all seem really into games, that's pretty awesome...

Yes, but one must take into account that I'm an eternally baffled Mirage of Blaze fan. It keeps giving me history and clan affiliations when all I want is more groping, please. I only stay because the angst and lulz are too good to resist.

Cloud: "Aww." *sighs, pouts, bats pretty blue eyes*

...gah. Okay, I'll write a word, you draw it.

Cloud: "YAY!"
Thursday, April 1st, 2010 11:38 pm (UTC)
The Wiki entry on Bleach has several pages of characters, and lots of the 50 Japanese seiyuu. Cloud and Seph both provide voices. I'm not sure if I'm trying to lure you in or chase you off.
