Sephy-Pants: *frowns* "Amarissia says my character has been altered by the time I have spent looking after Cloud, whose Choir self is rather unlike the Cloud presented in what you call the canon."
Amarissia: "No need to analyze it, Seph, it's sweet. Anyway, FMA follows two young brothers, Edward Elric and - "
Cloud: "Al! I love Al! He's a big suit of armor and he's really nice and he likes kitties, just like me."
Amarissia: "Yes, dear. Ed and Al are alchemists who broke alchemy's big taboo of trying to bring back the dead, and in so doing lost, in Ed's case, an arm and leg, and in Al's case his whole body. They search for the Philosopher's Stone, which supposedly can restore them to normal, and their journey brings them into contact with a lot of fascinating characters and many heartbreaking situations. It's all way more addicting than it sounds. And if you squint, YAY, unequal relationship!"
Cloud: "Ed is my cousin. Amarissia says."
Zack: *laughs* "Yeah, your grumpy, short, shrieking cousin."
Genesis: "Mmmmfff. Rffffss vcssss."
Amarissia: "Huh?"
Genesis: "RFFFSS VCSSS! PDDDO PRRRO."
Amarissia: "Oh, Rufus-voice. Roy is the AWESOME. I should also mention that the English voice cast for FMA is unusually good, so you'll want to check it out in both subs and dubs. And bring tissues. So many tissues."
Genesis: *rips off gag* "Also, the protagonist chibi is so pretty when he angsts."

Amarissia: "Cloud has just realized, and informed me with great distress, that we have neglected to review Gravitation, even though it was one of our very first animes. My apologies, Gravitation. I don't know what happened. Certainly that is an anime you don't ever forget. It's probably driven some people to therapy, actually."
Zack: *covers ears with hands*
Angeal: "I'm afraid this was the first time Zack encountered my voice being used by another character, and it was, and is, distressing for him." *pets* "It didn't help that the character has an unpleasant personality."
Amarissia: "Be nice to Yuki. He's a very damaged guy. Even by anime standards. We all liked this one, right, guys?"
Zack: "Except for the voice thing, yeah, it was funny."
Genesis: "And yaoi. Though not nearly explicit enough."
Sephy-Pants: "Amusing, yes. And had we not watched it, Cloud would not have met his friend - "

And it's about Yuki-san too. He's not very nice, but Shuichi loves him, so we should be nice to him. And Touma is in it, and K - "
Zack: "Who likes to shoot at us."
Ryu-chan: " - and Kuma, and me! There's lots of music too, so it should make anyone who watches very happy."
Amarissia: "Thank you, dear. I recommend Gravitation to anyone who can get through it without losing bits of their sanity, and maybe even them. The highlight, of course (other than the mostly awesome music), is Ryu-chan himself, our honorary Choir member. So go watch now if you haven't seen it, and anyone who figures out what the hell a Nittle Grasper is, please let me know, 'cause I'm getting nothing from Ryu-chan."

Amarissia: "Zack is just grumpy because Angeal's voice is a workaholic who has a hilarious tendency to get cast as jerkwad semes. Funny how this doesn't bother Genesis."
Genesis: *watching screen* "Looks like Angeal's feeling rape-y today, huh? Hot."
Zack: "AGH! It's not Angeal not Angeal NOT ANGEAL!" *knocks down wall*

Angeal: "I don't like anything that upsets Zack so much...and I wish my voice would stop choosing such disturbing parts. I am not a scary person, right? Is my voice really that threatening?" *is tortured*
Genesis: "Well, I liked it. Angst and pretties and sex, it has all the right ingredients."
Amarissia: "The other Pervert Twin concurs. Sephy?"
Sephy: "I didn't see it all. You may recall that I escorted Cloud out of the room toward the end of the first OVA."
Amarissia: "By 'escorted', he means picked up and ran with, because the earplugs and blindfold were in another room."
Cloud: "We have lots of blindfolds. And handcuffs. We use them for - "
Amarissia: "Anyway, this is another one of those cautionary tales in which a (pseudo-)Japanese hottie is...um...let's call it seduced, by a (pseudo-)foreigner. Dammit, Japan, it's your fault for all being so molestable."
Angeal: "It's probably a good thing we don't have a portal to Japan here..."
Amarissia: "Zack?"
Zack: *suspiciously* "What?"

Genesis: "Either those horrifying wigs go, or I do."
Amarissia: "We actually watched this quite a while ago, but I felt a bit KO'd by the history of it. Since wading through Mirage of Blaze, however, I find this one has become a total cakewalk. Also, sob-inducing."
Cloud: "Seph's voice! It's got Seph's voice!"
Zack: "I think almost every yaoi has Seph's voice. Seph, your voice is a big gay pervert, you realize this, right?"
Sephy: "..."
Genesis: "Aside from the Goddess-awful wigs, it is a compelling story. Forbidden love, star-crossed samurai, Seph-voice getting buggered by the voice of Shinou from Kyou Kara Maou and Tsuzuki from Yami No Matsuei. That's one person, by the way. Would have been way hotter if it was two. Threesome!"

Cloud: "I like the Panda songs."

I love Maiden Rose so much. Haven't paid much heed to the animated version, but I've been following the doujinshi with an unhealthy passion. Inariya Fusanosuke's artwork is incredible and her stories all have that heartbreaking melancholy in them. Not to mention absurdly hot characters and scorching sex scenes. I think I have everything she's done (that I know of) on my hard drive, so if you want some uploads, I'll be more than happy to share. ;D

Seen FMA or more accurately read it, was very impressed...seen Gravitation, was not very impressed...ooh, a new one! Hmm, let's see if I can find this "Maiden Rose", which I'm guessing involves no maidens at all.

I doubt you're actually interested, but my thoughts on it, written as I watched the first OVA:

"Eurote." How obvious can you get?

It makes no sense to ride a motorcycle into combat. None. At all. It's good that both partners are pretty badass, even if Taki conspicuously does no actual fighting--it's a nice change from the normal ineffectual uke.

...who owns a bed that big? Honestly. Also, "you're overflowing now" will never be a hot sentence.

Whee!!!!!!!!!!!! I know almost all of these and agree completely on all fronts they are such awsome animes! Especially FMA (which I own,and I mean whole series and movie) and Gravitation (looking everywhere so I can buy it!!!).

I actually try to find every anime I want to watch in english first so they can have a chance against the critics out there that say that all english dub is horrible. But if I can't see it in english I am perfectly happy to watch it in subs when/if it comes out in english eventually.

D.N.Angel-Ed voice as one of the leads in english dub(that character is my picture)...pretty good despite the het,but what can you do?...
Katekyo Hitman Reborn-Many pretties in a school setting...sort of...OH! with Mafia too! and an almost naked boy(runs around in his underware yelling a portion of the time)it is long ongoing close to Bleach in length but oh so worth it later on, after you get thru most of the first season it changes from flat out comedy to action. very cool.and by the way...(look at Hibari and Mukuro most of all...in my opinion, got to love the mean/dark ones.)
07-Ghost-the pretties....and 3 of them are bishops...yes as in church. tear jurker though and short for now(heard they may make a second season so*fingers crossed*)
and a new Yaoi one that recently was subbed...only one OVA right now called-Seitokaichou ni Chuukoku

I just recently got non-phobic enough about to anime to be able to have it in the house (weird, I know), so my collection is quite small, but I already have the whole series plus movie of FMA too. :) I can't wait till Brotherhood comes out on DVD!

I tend to watch in Japanese first, but if I hear a lot of positive stuff about the dub and/or some favorite actors are in it (Vic Mignogna, Chris Patton, Greg Ayres, etc.) I sometimes try the dub first.

You need to watch Axis Powers Hetalia. Lots of possible pairings between the anthropomorphized countries (AmericaxEngland is darned cute), and as far as I can tell no Choir-voices are involved which will cut down on the tantrums. And then you can cringe along with Germany when he answers the phone and hears Italy freaking out again. "DOITSU! DOITSU! TASUKETE! TASUKETE! TASUKETE~~~!" :D

I don't remember what Italy was flailing on about in that particular scene. He could have run out of pasta, or he could have been captured yet again by the Allies and needed to be bailed out.

FMA: watched it, loved it. Watching Brotherhood and loving it too. Reading the manga and am kinda confused, but is awesome!

Gravitation: have not finished yet. Yuki's run off to New York to do something or other though, and that was ages ago...should probably finish.

Maiden Rose: Wow, totally going on the list of Things to Watch. And what was that you used blindfolds and handcuffs for, Cloudy? Collateral damage must be terrible with Zack's tantrums.

Winter Cicada/Fuyu no Semi: This one sounds long. Longer at any rate. How long is it? Because if it's short enough, it's definitely on the list. Sephy-voice and Shinou-voice in the same anime? Must see! And I agree with GenGen: history would have been so much better with blonde samurai and outdoor threesomes.

Nerima Daikon Brothers: Pandas? Huh? This requires further investigation...

Close the Last Door: OMG, on the list. Zack and Seph voice yaoi! And Zacky, be nice to GenGen. Lots of crazy fangirls will be very upset with you if you ruin his face. Because death can be bypassed with enough plot-twisting, but disfigurement tends to stick around.

Ooh, have watched Maiden Rose and Close the Last Door! Fuyu No Semi will likely be next on the list. After finishing Gravitation.

FMA manga is...100+ chapters, each chapter maybe 30-40 pages. Pretty long, as far as manga goes, but pretty short as well, if you compare it to those mainstream ones that I'm scared to touch anymore, like Bleach and Naruto. But Brotherhood is essentially the manga in anime form, so you won't miss a lot, except the anime seems more fast-paced for some reason.

I agree. Choir!Cloudy is so sweet, it's easy to forget that he turns around and has wild, kinky sex with Sephy when we can't watch. And then he talks about it and it makes it even weirder.

I'm liking Brotherhood a lot, though I think I prefer the original anime. So who knows, the manga might even disappoint me! :) I'm not missing a lot, though? Does Ed do more short rants in the manga or anything? :)

You know, I just read the first volume of a manga called Ooku. It takes place in Edo Japan, and nearly all young men have been affected by a disease, causing the male population to drop by I think 75% or something. Not only does this mean male and female roles have (nearly) been reversed, the (female) Shogun keeps the most beautiful men in her inside chambers. All of them. Gorgeous men. In a room. With no women. Does this not scream yaoi? There's nothing explicit yet, just a few hints here and there, but since you seem to enjoy both yaoi and traditional Japanese settings, I thought I'd let you know :)

Oooh, pretty new things to rec up and look up! FMA is AWESOME! That's all I can say! It has pretty boys, unequal relationships, alchemy (who HASN'T had thoughts of how to use it for sex yet?), and so much angst and darkness around it we can't help but wibble and be addicted to it! And it has Roy, the mother of all mother-fucking-I'm-greater-than-you-so-shove-THAT-in-you-face-kick-ass character! XD But I have a soft spot for Ling, and Ed and Al, especially Al the adorable little thing! (His English Dub voice gives me images of rapeable minors and.....yeah....XD)

Gravitation! One of my first ever yaoi exposing starters. Because if it and Ai no Kusabi, yaoi was found! It holds a very special place in my heart. And Shuu-chan's and Yuki's relationship was quite the tear jerker! And now that you mention it, Gravitation IS a lot like Queer as Folk! Yuki is Brian, Shuu-chan is Justin, and we have the misfit gang all together. Only there isn't a lesbian couple but we can spare the little details!

So many new things to check up on! Maiden Rose I might look up, but I'm definitely checking on Winter Cicada and Close the Last Door!

Hit the nail on the head with FMA, oh yes you did. Especially the unequal relationship thing. I so totally understand now why Roy/Ed is so popular, it's AWESOME.

Ling! I love Ling! I love his seiyuu, so no wonder...

Oh, Al-voice. Aaron is so funny in the panel footage I've seen on YouTube. In one he was asked if anyone ever gave him yaoi doujinshi, and he was like "Uh, no, no one has ever given me porn." And once he and Vic were asked what they think of Elricest, and Aaron said "Why would you even ask us that?!"

I know, right? Gravitation is QAF, completely. Definitely check out Winter Cicada, but be careful about Close the Last Door. It's one of those old, weird-looking ones that I only watch for the pornings.

I imagine it's been rec'd to you before (maybe by me?), but Ai no Kusabi is absolutely gorgeous and just the hottest "we're not gonna technically show anything, but there's no question what's happening" sex scenes you'll see. Non and dub con, but def. worth the watch.
