Hmm, a seriously loud thunderstorm is just ending. I spent four years in California with no storms (one minute of thunder and no rain doesn't count), after growing up here in NJ adoring them, and it was one of the things I missed most. It was like a cramp that never let go. Now, after...a week? Two? in New Jersey (where no sane person willingly goes, I assure you), I've been through probably five storms. And now I'm sick of them. Gods of Irony, why do you hate me so?

So...typing. I don't have the energy for anything else. Which is unfortunate, because Cloudy and Ryu-chan seem to be having a lot of fun outside in those puddles.

Sephy: "Cloud, remember, not for too long. Ryu-chan doesn't have mako, so it's easier for him to get sick than it is for you."
Cloud: "I'll remember!"
Ryu-chan: *wrinkles nose cutely* "I don't like being sick na no da. K makes me take icky medicine, or Touma does, and if Kumagoro is sick too, the medicine makes him all sticky, and he doesn't like that."

Don't worry, dear. Just come in if you start to feel cold and I'll have some hot cocoa waiting. (I'm kinda glad they've gone outside. Much as I love Ryu-chan, it's hard to type while a J-pop star is hurling English muffins at you. I didn't even know they were available in Japan.)

Ryu-chan: "I like them! Touma says they taste like cardboard."
Cloud: "He's kind of scary, isn't he?"
Ryu-chan: "Oh no na no da! Touma's really nice!"

But a little scary. Especially since you can't really tell he's a him...do people have trouble with that a lot, Honeybun?

Ryu-chan: *giggles, chews Kumagoro's ear* "Uh-huh. Once he came to visit me in America, and everyone thought he was my girlfriend! It was funny, right Kuma?"
Kumagoro: *nods*
Genesis: "You two really shouldn't be dressed for this sort of thing, puddle-jumping is much nicer nude. OW, Seph!"
Sephy: "Amarissia, please occupy him with something."

Ah yes. Genesis and I have discovered that, in addition to having many perversions in common, we also have the same taste in poetry. Since the gloomy weather has put me in a pensive frame of mind, I thought I'd share with you his current favorite, and one of my all-time favorites. Death Note fans, Genesis says this one reminds him of Light, and I agree. It would make a nice fic, ne?

The Child Dying

Unfriendly friendly universe,
I pack your stars into my purse,
And bid you so farewell.
That I can leave you, quite go out,
Go out, go out beyond all doubt,
My father says, is the miracle.

You are so great, and I so small:
I am nothing, you are all:
Being nothing, I can take this way.
Oh I need neither rise nor fall,
For when I do not move at all
I shall be out of all your day.

It's said some memory will remain
In the other place, grass in the rain,
Light on the land, sun on the sea,
A flitting grace, a phantom face,
But the world is out. There is not place
Where it and its ghost can ever be.

Father, father, I dread this air
Blown from the far side of despair
The cold cold corner. What house, what hold,
What hand is there? I look and see
Nothing-filled eternity,
And the great round world grows weak and old.

Hold my hand, oh hold it fast-
I am changing! - until at last
My hand in yours no more will change,
Though yours change on. You here, I there,
So hand in hand, twin-leafed despair -
I did not know death was so strange.

Edwin Muir

*sigh* I wanted to rec some videos, but YouTube's become an altogether depressing place under the totalitarian rule of Google. Videos going bye bye (including one of mine, bastards!), audio tracks disappearing. Even the great QuantumImmortal, queen of FF video parody, has been hit. Bite me, Google. Stick to search engines and keep your nose out of my fandoms.

See what happens when I'm vexed? I get too tired even to update. Oh, wait. I guess not.

A lot of my mom's family lives out in NJ, but the last time I was there, I was three. I remember eating coffee ice cream at two in the morning, and that my second cousin was a bridesmaid for a friend's wedding. That's about it. Nowadays, my ex lives there. If you can hear the gagging and see my cringing face, that's about all I have to say about that.

I hope Ryu-chan doesn't get sick, and I also wonder what would happen to him and Cloud if they were ever accidentally left alone with Genesis.

Also, because I'm an idiot with a mind that moves too fast for the rest of me, I read the poem with Light in mind and got chills, particularly the last line.

Fully agreed on Youtube ... the last video I tried to put up, they sent me nasty copyright warnings and muted the sound before it was even available to the public. I mean, it's their right and all, but ...all that work. XD (I didn't know you made vids though! I shall have to scuff around the place and find them. ^^)

Heh, yeah, though they're not very good. My name at YouTube is Athlynne, but that's kind of a secret. :)

I think considering you were using WMM and it was your first try at video editing, they're very good. :3 Is there any reason you stopped making them? It'd be awesome to see how you went with more experience and practice, if that's how you were at the beginning.

Thank you so much! Hmm, why did I stop making them. Mostly frustration at WMM, and frustration at myself for the videos never turning out exactly as I wanted. The impulse to make them was very strong, and then it faded, as well. Mainly I just wanted to do "I Turn It Back It's My Fault", that's the one I was happiest with.

Gah, sucks that YouTube took down my Zangeal-ish one. And do I still have a copy of it somewhere? I don't think so. :(

Yeah, WMM's kind of a bitch to use from what I've seen. And it sucks that you lost your Zangeal one entirely. :( I back up all my vids these days at a different site called www.metacafe.com, who haven't sent me a single copyright notice yet ... learned the hard way when all my early ones got yoinked down again.

Vids tend to get more and more the way you actually want them to turn out the more you practice, though. If you ever get the urge to go back to making them, see if you can get your hands on something like Vegas. It's expensive, but you can find it online if you look in the right places. :D
