Hey, all. Blech, we're having a bit of a heat wave here and, even with the AC on, it's hard for Amarissia to think. Also, I'm grumpy because I was on a writing roll last night and had to stop when I couldn't keep my eyes open. Gah, why do I always get most inspired just before I get sleepy? Dane Cook's new special kept me awake for awhile, though. That guy is a raging nutjob. :)

In the interest of coolness and the fact that my perpetually-long hair has been driving me crazy, I decided to hack off ten inches and donate it to Locks of Love, a great organisation that makes wigs for cancer patients. But weirdo that I am, I insisted on taking a picture of my lost hair before I sent it off. Don't tell the Choir I was using a camera, I'm not allowed.

I think my head is actually a pound or two lighter, and hair maintenance is such a breeze now, it's awesome. My hair is still what other people consider long, but it feels weird to not have it all the way down to my butt... :)

The Choir and I are working on finishing Ouran, which continues to be hilarious, and then we should probably finish Code Geass, but after that I think I can get back to my list of recs. That one Sai mentioned sounded good. Kuroshitsuji? Kuro...something? This is like trying to pronounce the names in Tenchijin. First comes the 'k' sound, then stuttering while the Choir stares at me.

Sephy: "You can pronounce them fine, you only mess up because you find it amusing and it gives you an excuse to hand out ridiculous nicknames."

I don't know if any of you watch the historical Japanese drama Tenchijin or if it's even available outside of Japan and the Bay Area, but it's mesmerizing. Originally I started watching for the language exposure and a thought to get over my phobia of samurai, but now I really like it for its characters and story. (And that it's helping me understand Mirage of Blaze.) I really hope they let Pseudo-Angeal -

Sephy: "She means Kagekatsu."

- do something soon. He must be going stir-crazy letting Pseudo-Zack -

Angeal: "She means Kanetsugu."

- have all the adventure. And poor Kagetora, with his pretty pretty hair. He has no idea that after his current mess, he's gonna be reincarnated as a grumpy high school student forced to exorcise spirits and get pawed by sexy Naoe. Tenchijin!Naoe is not sexy, and there has still been no man-sex. *shakes TV* There is supposed to be man-sex! And I miss Kenshin. *sniffle* Now I only get to see his krazy hair in flashbacks.

Er, anyway...I updated? *pats Super Cannon of Zack-Related Angst* Ooh, haven't gotten to use you much since 'Madness'.

Speaking of 'Madness', you'll never believe it! My friend and reader [livejournal.com profile] aishiyurii has begun recording herself reading The Madness of Angels and is making it available to all of you and your goldfish! (Or any other pets you have that might like yaoi.) You can find her site for the project here, but she's currently having a bit of trouble uploading full chapters, so if you want to hear Chapter 1, you can download it here.

And now the glamorous Choir conductor must turn her attention to laundry...oooh, I love dryer sheets...

Sephy: *shakes head, sighs*

Great job with the hair! ;D And just in time for summer.

LoL makes wigs for kids with mostly alopecia, not cancer. Still a worthy cause, but they've been pretty sketchy about their dealings. Pantene's beautiful lengths sounds more reliable to me so far.
Tuesday, May 19th, 2009 03:20 am (UTC)
It is for a very good cause.:)

Kuroshitsuji. Go watch it. It's MADE of awesome ;)
Tuesday, May 19th, 2009 10:40 am (UTC)
Glad you're liking Ouran and you should definately watch and read Kuroshitsuji, onemanga.com has all the translated chapters so far which is quite a few. You may get another Ritsuka complex from it but it's not your fault, really, I mean, he wears a CORSET for god's sake. -_- (That will never hold up in a court of law unfortunately)

Code Geass is another good one, even if it did give me vibes almost as evil as the ones I got juast from having Raito Yagami SPEAK. Lulu is definately his love child and Seto Kaiba's the daddy. *NodNod*

3 finals down, 5 to go. But I'm an LJ addict, so here I am, eheheh

Like my good friend [livejournal.com profile] saphitri said, "On the verge of falling asleep, I always get inspired."

Dane Cook has a new special? Awesome! That guy's a bloody genius.

Go you for donating your hair to charity! I used to have my hair all the way to my butt when I decided (like, a year and a half ago) to cut it. I didn't know about organisations like Locks of Love, though, or I would have donated it. Gah, why do I always find out things like that when it's too late? *sigh*

Ooh, Kuroshitsuji (can't pronounce it properly either), I've heard about that! I've added it to my list of Things I Must Watch When I Have More Time (working title being Things I Must Watch When I've Bloody Graduated). Along with Hetalia. And this Tenchijin you speak of sounds interesting.

Heh, you're odd sometimes xD (I'm one to talk) But we love you anyway ♥

*tries to calm herself down*
ok ok!!! OMG!!!! wait...too much awesome information at the same time makes me go into crazy-super-excited-fangirl mode, and it's hard to calm down *starts moving her arms like crazy*

Ok, i didn't knew there was such a thing like that organisation. I don't think there're that kind of organisations in my country, but it's so cool!! I'm always happy to know there's people like that in the world! ^.^
emmm, i download all Kuroshitsuji, but i only watch one episode, looks nice ^^, but i want to watch Code Geass u_u, i don't even know what's about, but it has bishies *drool* xD
I'm going to read the new chapter right now >___< i really need Genesis's humor today!! And i'm going to listen to your friend!! I love stuff like that!!

Oddly enough, I'm inspired when I'm either tired or hungry. X.x Both of which, end too quickly. Meh.

Toushiro: Which is a good thing for the rest of us.

Oooooooh, I've also donated my hair to locks of love. Barely had the required length, but *grins* it's worth it. I rarely grow my hair that long. Wanted to cosplay Envy without a wig, but I find it a pain to maintain so I'm just going to buy wigs for long hair characters. That or blond. I have black hair. Too bad I didn't take a picture of it. Oh well, at least I did it once. *eyes Toushiro*

Toushiro: I refuse to grow my hair that long.

I tried.

Toushiro: Don't you have an update or several to type?

V.V You just had to remind me.

Toushiro: ... Where are the clones? And Reno?

O.o Oh crap! *dashes off*
Wednesday, May 20th, 2009 08:22 pm (UTC)
Ooh, did your head feel a lot lighter when you cut your hair? Brushing it was weird too...

You left Reno with the clones, unsupervised? Oh, dear. Here, you might wanna borrow this Restore materia...and handcuff key...
Wednesday, May 20th, 2009 08:28 pm (UTC)
Ooh, Code Geass is really cool! If you watch it in Japanese, listen for Cloud's voice, it's a nice little surprise. Well, maybe not surprising, considering those FFVII boys are in EVERYTHING. :)
Wednesday, May 20th, 2009 08:32 pm (UTC)
*grin* Thank you, Windmill Lady. (That's what Cloud calls you.) :)

The new Dane Cook special was awesome, it had so many "WTF?" moments. Definitely not for kiddies, so I probably should have sent Cloudy out of the room, but he's a perv deep down...

Cloudy: *giggles*
Wednesday, May 20th, 2009 08:58 pm (UTC)
Corset?

Sephy: "Oh, hell."
Amarissia and Genesis: "We're watching that one next! Squee!"
Zack: "Let me guess, more unequal relationships?" *eyeroll*
Genesis: "Pervert Twin Powers..."
Amarissia: "...Activate!"
Amarissia and Genesis: *laugh*
Zack: *dies a little inside*
Wednesday, May 20th, 2009 09:09 pm (UTC)
Gah, seriously? EVERYONE MISINFORMS ME! *knocks over lamp*

Zack: "Uh, dude? Does it really matter?"

...yes. *throws bottles of Pantene from bathroom, hits Genesis*

Genesis: "HEY! Why is it always me?!"

I don't want to rub salt in the wound as a fellow longhair but though this will in all likelihood hurt I think it should be said:

1) LoL never explicitly said they made wigs for kids with cancer, people just made the most obvious assumption and LOL never corrected it. The new website does claim that 'cancer and other causes' fall in there, but the initial focus was alopecia.

2) They make far, far fewer wigs than they can with the number of donations they receive. The rest of the hair is either sold to wig makers for the cash, which goes who knows where, or simply thrown away.

3) The wigs that were made were not provided for free. LoL claims 'sliding scale charges' but hasn't publicized that part very much as far as I know.

4) The Better Business Bureau found them questionable upon investigation. They have since cleaned up some, but that still doesn't change that you can't be sure what really happens to your hair.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Locks_of_Love

Thus far, for donation purposes I'd recommend either Pantene's Beautiful Lengths or selling the hair yourself (ebay works) and donating the cash to a charity of choice.

... It's always you, Gen, because you're a short-haired bastard who will never have to deal with total strangers coming up to you and demanding you cut your hair off. :(
Thursday, May 21st, 2009 03:39 am (UTC)
Yush, it felt really weird especially when drying, combing and changing. I'm so used to pulling my hair out of my shirt. It felt strange when I didn't have to.

Yes? Guilty as charged. I think I'll have Sephy foot the bill for Reno's therapy. After all, they are his clones. Thank you! *dashes off again*
Thursday, May 21st, 2009 09:46 am (UTC)
*Pats Zack on the head* Don't worry, Ciel still gives it as good as he gets, even if Seby is pretty evil, Ciel is still technically in charge at the moment.

That's why it's a Ritsuka complex.^_^;
Thursday, May 21st, 2009 01:19 pm (UTC)
Ooh, pretty color. I'm sure some kid will love it. I think the Choir would make an exception on the camera ban for compassionate/charitable causes.

I finished the rest of Loveless during my stay in solitary confinement 24-hour bed rest. Man, there is no way on God's green earth that Ritsuka is going to have his ears through the entire series, is there? Hey Genesis, wanna start a betting pool on when it happens? Over/under volume 11.

(Goin' to hell, brb.)
Monday, May 25th, 2009 08:38 pm (UTC)
Ooh, you okay over there? 24 hours in bed does not sound fun. I can't stay in bed more than half an hour if I'm not asleep...

Genesis: *tosses hair* "I think the little jailbait will probably have his ears until the very last volume, and we'll be left with only a teasing suggestion that they're about to be lost. That seems to be the way with anime and manga I've seen." *pout* "So unsatisfying."
Monday, May 25th, 2009 08:58 pm (UTC)
*has stopped throwing things* Thank you, Ninja, I'll remember this for my next super-haircutting. Ooh, Pantene, I love them anyway, so I'd trust them with my hair...actually I've been promising people since I was quite young that they could have my hair if I ever cut a lot of it off, but screw 'em. :)
Tuesday, May 26th, 2009 02:48 pm (UTC)
Doing fine now. Just some self-inflicted health issues of the sort that the Choir would never have to worry about unless you decide to start writing mpreg!Sephy stories. I whined about it a little in my LJ. Come on! You know you want to! And Genesis can be the baby daddy! ...I'm not going to make it to 40, am I? :D
Wednesday, May 27th, 2009 06:06 pm (UTC)
Baby! You're gonna have a baby?! BABY!

Cloud: *beams* "I love babies!"
Genesis: "So you agree with me, Pregnant!Seph would be weirdly hot? Right? Angeal, quit giving me that disturbed look."
Sephy: *is not pleased*

I won't mpreg you, Seph. The planet would not survive even one mood swing of yours.

*bounce* So, when do ya find out if it worked?
Thursday, May 28th, 2009 12:12 am (UTC)
I go in for the blood test on June 3, with a few more tests after that to make sure the numbers are going in the right direction. Can't do the pee-on-a-stick kind because the meds I'm on could skew it.

Dunno why I keep tempting fate by giving you ideas on how to torture Sephiroth. Maybe it's because I'm willing to take Cloud and Ryu-chan off his hands every Saturday afternoon.

Have long hair can be a hassle, but it can also prompt interesting conversations. I had an argument with a friend a while back about dyeing my hair silver and cosplaying as various characters. Way to much effort during our final year of high school...
