Dude. Dude.

Okay, that's it. I've seen all 37 episodes of Death Note. Not the movies yet, but I need to just absorb what I've seen for a while. Wow, that was a hell of an ending. I assume you've only clicked here if you don't mind spoilers, right? Good. Near and I officially okay now. He brought L's case to a successful conclusion and this mind-fuck of a series to an end in which justice prevailed.

*sigh* And yet...I feel a little bad for Light. I feel bad for anyone who comes so close to succeeding at anything and falls. All that screaming and panic and disbelief and the way he called out for help...it was so sad. But I did love that glimpse of L just before Light closed his eyes, as though L had never really left the case and turned up to see his adversary be defeated at last.

The Choir is also extremely impressed. Sephiroth has enjoyed the action and mystery, Zack too, and Cloud has begun sitting with his feet up on chairs and is considering being a detective. Genesis's comments are a bit too offensive for public viewing, but don't worry, Angeal smacked him on the head for them.

I'm sad. And excited, and exhilirated, and everything has that wee-I-have-a-new-fandom-to-explore smell. And, hey...I can read fanfic now! *grumble* After typing, of course. That new Decorum won't type up itself.

So, in closing, thank you to Scripta and her L for dragging me into this. (Also, once Sephy is less creeped out by him, if you have a Near over there, feel free to send him over sometime to play with Sora and Cloud.) Thank you for helping me with my anime-phobia. And everyone else, keep recommending other anime for me to check out. Anything with yaoi-ish overtones goes to the top of the pile, by the way.

And L, rest in peace. And by "peace", I mean wherever Scripta keeps you.

MattMello. Go for it. *grins* LightLawliet is good too. You're going to have Near over there? Wow, kudos to you. I'd rather have Mello over than Near, Near's a little too apathetic for me to deal with. With Mello at least I'd have fun pissing him off and then running for my life. *grins* Or L, I'd adopt him as a pet and feed him sweets with my Turk paycheck. ^-^

Sephy's opposed to having Near over here, he's still unnerved by him.

Sephy: "I am not!"

But maybe someday I'll acquire one. He'd make a nice friend for Cloud, maybe. Cloud could make him more cheerful.
Friday, September 19th, 2008 08:00 pm (UTC)
Me: *nods* Cloud is a great influence on anyone. Just look at Sephy.
Sephy: Hey!
Me: Anyway, I still stand with Sephy-Pants on this one. I don't want to be in the same room as Near.

Ummm, I don't watch that much anime, but I liked FullMetal Alchemist a lot. What I've seen anyway... And the second season of Torchwood is fun (no I know it's not anime, but that first episode makes up for it :P)
Friday, September 19th, 2008 06:14 pm (UTC)
Thank you!
Wednesday, September 17th, 2008 01:29 am (UTC)
I read the manga before the anime, and the anime tidies a few things and keeps a flow, but I never felt sorry for Light in the slightest, he's a stuck up bitch who got what he deserved, but um, he's hot?
Friday, September 19th, 2008 06:08 pm (UTC)
LOL, that may be it. I have a soft heart for good-looking ukes, I let them get away with a lot.
Wednesday, September 17th, 2008 02:01 am (UTC)
First off you can't yell at me because most to the fanfics and nit finished, believe me I know but you have to read them anyways because they are just that good.
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4154373/1/Discordant_Harmony
This one is actually finished and is funny in it's crackish nature.

http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4029915/1/Genius_is_a_Curse
Deep and kinda cool I'm bored with it at the moment, but that is just my short attention span.

http://www.fanfiction.net/u/1291738/Nilahxapiel
Just read everything by her you wont regret it, you might want to start with Momento Mori first, or The Scream which is totally awesome in everything but the ending completely sucks ass but is so cool at the same time if you know what I mean. And try all of her favorites they're all awesome too.

And finally http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3966181/1/The_Prince
One of the Holy Grails of Death Note ff, I bow to its awesomeness of angst, berayals and Xanatos Roulette.

I have just one more thing you actually may want to avoid because of shear time wasting I guarantee http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/XanatosRoulette You shall giggle at rule 34.
Friday, September 19th, 2008 06:07 pm (UTC)
Ooh, thank you!
Wednesday, September 17th, 2008 02:20 am (UTC)
YAY, now I can ramble without spoilers!

Maybe I was a little heartless for laughing when Raito (NOT Light) died, but he said "I don't wanna die", like, 20 times. 19 exactly, I think. My friend and I counted at one point. When we were cosplaying as the Death Note group, we picked up book 12 and laughed at all our deaths. I got shot, like, a hundred times. T_T
Wednesday, September 17th, 2008 03:33 am (UTC)
I highly recommend GILGAMESH, a 26 episode series that is very interesting and can be disturbing in some ways.
Friday, September 19th, 2008 06:06 pm (UTC)
Disturbing? Ooh. Thank you!
Saturday, September 20th, 2008 08:25 pm (UTC)
Oh! If you want anything with BL content you have to see

Sukisho
Gravitation
Loveless
Junjou Romantica

There are very good movies out there with real actors. You will find plenty of BL movies out there, but my favorite hands down are:

Sukitomo
Boys Love 2006 (film) It has a manga which is really good, too.
Ai no Kotodama

I think you mentioned once that you were a fan of Gackt. Am I correct on that one? Either way, MOON CHILD is the movie to watch.

*takes notes* Thank you! Whew, I'm gonna be busy. :)
Wednesday, September 17th, 2008 07:35 pm (UTC)
I only saw the DN movies so far, and I enjoyed it a lot. But that thing with L shouldn´t have happened! My friend told me and I was like "Nooooo!" Not Light!
There are some really nice cosplayers around, when I went to London´s anime con, there was Kira and L shackled together, with L constantly squatting down, lol

I like Inuyasha a lot (and some of other anime as well).

And lol, I like the way your Choir reacted to DN! :o))
Friday, September 19th, 2008 05:03 pm (UTC)
I hope you questioned the shackled Kira and L about their sleeping arrangements. My guru's L won't give up the juicy details. :)

The movies! I can't wait to see the movies! *pouts at pile of typing I have to do*
Wednesday, September 17th, 2008 07:48 pm (UTC)
I hope this doesn't mean that you'll lose interest in Crisis Core! You write too damned well for us FF fans to lose you to the Death Note Clause!

Me: *groooowls* Back off, Death Note fanatics. She's ours!

lol jk jk. But seriously, I hope you don't forget about CC or Zack'll be sad.
Friday, September 19th, 2008 05:00 pm (UTC)
Zack: "I wouldn't be sad. I'd be fine with it."

Well, I wouldn't. Don't worry, I wouldn't abandon Crisis Core. I love my Choir too much!

Zack: "Damn."

I have no intention of ever watching the DN anime, but the movies are the best B movies ever made. I also love the mental image of Cloud sitting on the chair like L.

As far as anime recommendations, I'm currently enjoying Saiunkoku Monogatari (Story of Saiunkoku). The main character is one of the few female characters I do NOT want to kill because she is very much a strong (yet feminine) character that I relate very well with.

Anyway, the plot: The MC, Shuurei, if from a noble, but very poor family in an ancient China-esc mythic kingdom called Saiunkoku. As part of a financial arrangement for her family, she agrees to enter the young emperor's harem as his consort and tutor (because he's lazy and isn't doing his job as the emperor). She says okay because the emperor (who is so omigod sexy)has a tendency to bed men. So she thinks he's gay and therefore not going to bother her sexually. In truth, he's actually bisexual, but Shuurei thinks he's in love with her body guard and childhood friend Seiran.

I love it, it's like Fuushigi Yuugi with slashable characters and not-annoying heroine. A strong female in any anime is rare, but this one is great fun for me, the girl who likes romance, comedy, and a little bit of angst thrown in there (the emperor and Seiran have OMG!Dark pasts, as do several other characters... :D)

Ooh, thank you!
Thursday, September 18th, 2008 06:31 am (UTC)
I agree with FullMetal Alchemist, its a long series, but it DOES have an end, unlike Inu-Yasha, which loses its fun after the first 1one or two hundred episodes. I assume, of course, that you have heard of Loveless, the anime, pure yaoi there, Escaflowne is meh, no yaoiness there, and fairly unexciting, but, still a classic! mirage of blaze is worth looking into! hellsing for the vampire luvvers (me!)...hmm, if i think of any others, i will let you know!
Friday, September 19th, 2008 04:40 pm (UTC)
Thank you! *making notes*

Loveless is an anime? Like...Loveless Loveless?
Friday, September 19th, 2008 10:37 pm (UTC)
I swear I almost went ballistic with squee when I found out that the play Genesis was quoting was called Loveless(I think there is a yaoi fangirl on Squeeninx's staff) but no unfortunately. Not Loveless Loveless
Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008 11:00 am (UTC)
If you want to look at Loveless, I'd strongly recommend the manga over the anime. The anime is absolutely beautiful and has a fantastic soundtrack, but it works mainly as a companion to the manga. They stopped making it suddenly, so it just kind of stops. It's great, but the manga is much better. Mindblowingly awesome :D Probably my favourite manga, or close to.
Wednesday, September 24th, 2008 03:08 pm (UTC)
Manga still makes me a bit nervous...but thank you for the suggestion. Agh, my brain is hurting from all the possibilities. :)
Wednesday, September 24th, 2008 03:10 pm (UTC)
Haha, you know you're probably only getting such an enthusiastic list of suggestions 'cause everyone wants you to fic their fandom :P

And because we're all mad fangirls here and promoting favourites is a matter of instinct ;D
Wednesday, September 24th, 2008 06:47 pm (UTC)
Oh, sheesh. No pressure at all though, right? :)
Thursday, September 18th, 2008 06:06 pm (UTC)
The mental image of Cloud sitting L-style is too redonkulously cute for words. Cuddle him for me, would you? I only hope that he doesn't try to match L's dessert consumption, or you'll be peeling him off the ceiling.
Friday, September 19th, 2008 04:39 pm (UTC)
*cuddles Cloud*

Cloud: *giggles*

Don't worry, Sephy keeps an eye on what he eats. He has to with both of them, or Cloud and Zack both end up with sugar highs and he can barely keep up with them. :)
Friday, September 19th, 2008 01:40 am (UTC)
You have no choice but to read 'Poison Apple'. It's one of the best. Also, anything on my favorite lists over on ffn is really awesometastical. For cereal. Oh, it's going to share DN fan fiction with you!
Friday, September 19th, 2008 04:35 pm (UTC)
Thank you! My guru recced that one too, so now I'm VERY curious. And I'll be sure to check out your favorites list...
Friday, September 19th, 2008 04:08 am (UTC)
You know, I thihnk I might actually get over it and finish the series. Once I have time. Stupid college with it's stupid assignments tend to get in the way. But you have inspired me!!! -insert dramatic hand gesture here-
Friday, September 19th, 2008 04:33 pm (UTC)
Really? YAY! *dramatic...bouncing?*

You really should. Even L-less, it's so awesome.
Saturday, September 20th, 2008 05:50 pm (UTC)
Dramatic bouncing is always fun.

I have to agree with Heather and your guru, although I haven't finished it, or read all the posted chapters anyway, since it's not finished yet, from what I've read, Poison apple is really good. I fully intend on finishing it someday, when i have time. Probably when you're done with Madness, since most of my time is spent reading either Madness or Tenacity, and Madness is going to be finished before Tenacity.

Damn, I'm rambling again, and this one isn't related to yaoi. Hmm, Light loves L!!! There, now it's yaoi related.
Sunday, September 21st, 2008 08:19 pm (UTC)
I just reread your decorum series and the first thought that crossed my mind was: Sephy-pants wears underwear? Followed swiftly by boxers, briefs, or thong? and much giggling
Monday, September 22nd, 2008 04:36 pm (UTC)
I'll let Zacky answer, since he's the expert.

Zack: "Briefs. Very snug ones. And very nice to cuddle with."
Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008 10:56 am (UTC)
Ah, Death Note is wonderful, isn't it? One the few of my many fandoms that I actually write prolifically for. Also the one I've just finished cosplaying (Rem), so particularly close to my heart atm :D

When episode 25 ended, I really thought I would hate Light for the rest of all time, and yet at the end of the end, we all feel sorry for him.

If you want more excellent anime that's 'serious' in theme, my first recommendation would be Code Geass; it's intellectual like Death Note, absolutely brilliant, and has virtually canon yaoi (of the 'close childhood friends reunited and both very pretty' variety :P) ;D If you don't mind mecha, then Gundam 00, Gundam Wing, Gundam SEED are all great. If you want completely serious, quite dark (and no mecha :P), Wolf's Rain is awesome. I'm a massive anime fan, so the list goes on, but those would be my rec's based on what you seem to be into :)
Wednesday, September 24th, 2008 03:11 pm (UTC)
Ooh, that does sound good. *adds to list* Thank you!

Rem, really? Reminds me of my fourth-grade Halloween mummy costume. Did you get a lot of people sobbingly asking you why you killed L? *sniffles*

Zack: "Oh, please don't start sobbing again."

*sniffle* Yeah, I really felt sorry for Light, even if he is a homicidal maniac. I kept hoping he would reform.
Wednesday, September 24th, 2008 03:16 pm (UTC)
I killed L in my skit :P I had large sections of crowd sobbing...including the MC :D (and possibly me :S...hehe) It was very tragic, lol. So yes, much sobbing *grins evilly* ;)

Yeah...I think dying quietly and with a little dignity was really all we could hope for him, but that didn't make me cry over it any less *sniffles too*
Wednesday, September 24th, 2008 06:46 pm (UTC)
Waaaah... *crawls off to sob over L again*
Thursday, February 5th, 2009 07:34 pm (UTC)
If you're looking for yaoi-ish overtones, you HAVE to see FAKE. The anime doesn't exist (mores the pitty) but it does have a movie (which is really like a bunch of eps run together and edited for time). The manga is the real thing to see, though. *fangirl happy!sigh* Volume 7 is almost pure smut. *embarassing fangirl squeeking noise* I don't want to spoil too much, but it's about these two really hot cops...

*drools over the guys in uniform*

It's also one of the few manga I've ever seen that takes place solely in America (with one ep where they vacation in England).
Friday, February 6th, 2009 05:49 pm (UTC)
Thank you! I didn't really like the Fake anime, but my Guru recced the manga, so I'm gonna give that a try, eventually. :)
