Yes, here I am, posting AGAIN. I've been glued to the Weapon of Mass Distraction the past couple days, which means for the next few days I will probably at least try to avoid it and maybe even *fingers crossed* catch up on writing.

Until then, my evil accomplice [livejournal.com profile] 9thavenuenorth has demanded to know the theme songs of my dear Choir members. Hmm, difficult. I already knew Cloud's and Genesis's, but that left EmoPuppy, EpheboAngeal and Captain Obvious. All of whom insisted upon approving their chosen songs. GAH. So here's what they and I chose together - the Choir theme songs.

First up, the most obvious. Tell me this one is not made for Cloud. "Charmed Life", by Leigh Nash.

Next up, Genesis. Originally I got this idea from a different Genesis tribute, but it's disappeared, and though I don't like this one quite as much, the song is still his. "I'm Still Here", by John Rzeznik.

And now Zack. There are way too many for him, mostly ones he dismissed as too emo. So I shall cheat and give a sample of two. (You can probably guess that this theme-song thing is a work in progress.) "Angels on the Moon" by Thriving Ivory and "Believe" by Yellowcard.

Sephy was also difficult. His main request was that I give him something appropriately dark, even though he's a big softy who finger-paints with Cloud and lets kittens bat his hair. The top two choices are "Breath" by Breaking Benjamin (which I've shared before, because SilverThorneIris is goddess who needs to update her fic :)), and "From Yesterday" by 30 Seconds to Mars.

Breath

And that leaves only Angeal. Turns out he's as cheesy as I am. "Everything I Do (I Do It For You)" by Bryan Adams.

Everything I Do

Zack: *hides face*

Wow. Your taste in music rocks too. :) -didn't think she knew anyone else who knew of Leigh Nash-

(I only have one theme song, and it's for my crazy!degrading!Gen, and it's "Locked Up" by Ingrid Michaelson. Because it mentions being angry and throwing apples.)
Friday, June 4th, 2010 08:44 pm (UTC)
great recs... also, general FYI, I am fairly sure SilverThorneIris does not plan at this time to update her fic, as RL has come barreling through her world and swept her up and away from us. I can't say for 100% positive that she won't be updating it, but last I heard, she has switched her focus to something a bit different =)

Perfect! :)

*adds to her ITunes*
Friday, June 4th, 2010 09:39 pm (UTC)
And Angeal's theme tune is cheesy. Who could have guessed? :)
Really liked Zack and Sephiroth, and Genesis' was just plain badass! Nice music taste!
Friday, June 4th, 2010 09:48 pm (UTC)
For some reason, Cloud's theme showed up as the trailer for the Thundercats movie, which I didn't even know they were making. Huh. o.O

I am finally finished with school! Also I have finally gotten my beautiful repaired laptop back. In penance for the terrible lateness, I'm writing you a Zangeal from scratch: a fic where Angeal actually adopts Zack at a young-ish age. I promise there will be many parental overtones. :P
Friday, June 4th, 2010 11:50 pm (UTC)
...seriously? I jsut checked it and it's fine, it's the song. Maybe your computer is playing a sneaky trick on you? Lemme see if it's happening to anyone else...

SQUEE OMIGOD I WANT, thank you! I shall await it eagerly. Also Angeal. And Genesis, with a pleased smirk on his face. Zack...um...we'll see how Zack takes it. :)
Friday, June 4th, 2010 11:53 pm (UTC)
:) Angeal is very cheesy. He's thoroughly embarrassed Zack.

Zack: *hiding face in hands*

Thank you. :)
Friday, June 4th, 2010 11:53 pm (UTC)
:) Thank you!
Friday, June 4th, 2010 11:54 pm (UTC)
Aw, I hope she's okay, and she knows we love her and will be here when she returns. Thank you for letting me know.
Friday, June 4th, 2010 11:55 pm (UTC)
Thank you! I don't know much Leigh Nash; I just heard that one in a movie and fell totally in love with it.

LOL, I must look that one up...
Sunday, June 6th, 2010 01:00 am (UTC)
I didn't know where else to put it where you would see, but I recently went to an Anime con, and in the artist's corner I found these pins that were totally adorable and immediately made me think of your choir, so I had to show you~

The Cloud one especially, his expression <3

Sunday, June 6th, 2010 09:33 am (UTC)
Okay, seriously... have you stolen my brain, or something? I was looking forward to putting some new songs on my iPod, but no: you have to go and read my mind.

Breath is DEFINITELY Seph's song. It always reminds me of his inner conflict... *gazes wistfully into the distance, sheds a single, silvery tear*
And dude, what the crap? I'm Still Here and Believe have been my character songs for... ages.
I spent the entirety of Everything I Do imagining Angeal in Rick Astley get-up and pulling fists of air down towards his face. So pedo. Ten bucks says he'd sing that song mega sexy, though. Rawr?
Sunday, June 6th, 2010 10:15 am (UTC)
Oh, and Always Know Where You Are by BBMak is my other Zack song, if you care... at all. Yep.

*leaves/stops spamming your journal*

Hey darling

Now that I finally finished listening to all the songs (yep, all, even though I knew most of them already) to catch what I call their 'mood', I can finally say that they fit your choir. All those songs bring out something that destinctly reminds me of your muses (or choir members), and the way you write them.

I totally agree with your choices for Sephiroth, by the way, I knew both songs before and they always reminded me of him (I still can't write him though... just realized again being stuck with the current chapter of my fanfic).

As for SilverThoneIris (part of my devine trinity next to Sphinx and you), I can tell you that she really, really wants to continue with that story (especially after our looong conversations when I visited her in February), but her (real) life is extremely busy and demanding, and all the writing she can fit in is for her original work and for another fandom (not Bleach, I'm sorry). I tried my best to convince her, since I loved that story I lot, but it might not happen (or at least not soon...). She is doing well though, and I actually told her that most people I talk to instantly recognize her name and admire her creations deeply.

As for me, as important as music is to me, I couldn't decide for a single theme song for each of my muses for the life of me. Songs tend to represent connections/dynamics between characters (as you know from my original story) and/or different situations or phases in their lives for me, not a character as such.

Yet, a song that is very much Genesis (and I know it's cliche) is "Savin' Me" by Nickelback, especially since it somehow inspired one part of that 'memory'-Intro to my current story, and roughly at the same time I wrote this, SilverThorne made a Genesis tribute with the very same song... That stuck for some reason.

Couldn't tell you about Zack or Cloud though, since I don't write them (anymore), so I never thought about them in terms of music (for a long time).

Oh, and "Everything I do" was one of the few pop songs I played on the piano when I was younger...

Sunday, June 6th, 2010 11:41 pm (UTC)
Oh! Cute musics I didn't knew x3
I've always associated "Believe" by Yellowcard to Zack thanks to that amv... I love it ♥ And it fits him really well. It's such a beautiful song.
Yay, 30 seconds to Mars!
Angeal's theme may be cheesy but it's really cute x3 I love Bryan Adams. And his voice... Seriously, I love a man with a husky voice. *drools*

Listened to the songs and loved, loved the one for Genesis.
Angeal's song made my day. Now whenever it comes up in my music I'll imagine him singing!

Also, for some reason whenever I listen to "Creep" by Radiohead I think of Sephiroth. Which is why I have him like this on my desktop >.>

Excuse my butting in but ohhh the Cloud pin is so adorable!!
Tuesday, June 8th, 2010 04:01 pm (UTC)
I know~ I saw it first and was like OMG I NEED THAT ITS ADORABLE D< and then I saw the Zack and Sephy beside him, and they were the last three! So I was like shoving money at the poor girl with this like gleeful scary face
Tuesday, June 8th, 2010 10:58 pm (UTC)
OMIGOD. *melts* Do you know if this artist has a web site? Online store maybe? *chews nails* TOO ADORABLE, brain is melting...
Tuesday, June 8th, 2010 11:05 pm (UTC)
I knew YOU would definitely understand the strong connections one can make between characters and songs. :) Glad you liked these. :)

As long as SilverThorne is doing well...though I do hope she comes back one day. Her fic was great and her videos left me breathless. *hugs them* It's kinda awesome that we came to worship her independently like that!

Can you still play it on the piano? Oh, it's so cheesy but I adore that song... :)

Tuesday, June 8th, 2010 11:13 pm (UTC)
Ooooh...*goes to look*
Tuesday, June 8th, 2010 11:15 pm (UTC)
Seriously? Omigod. What if both of us are just figments of Gerald's imagination? You know, Matrix-style, only without so much leather and dramatic battles in the rain? No, actually, I demand battles in the rain. That was epic. What were we talking about?

Rick Astley? Dear Gaia, scary images. Now I'll have nightmares of Angeal with red hair...
Wednesday, June 9th, 2010 01:35 pm (UTC)
Y/n?
Wednesday, June 9th, 2010 01:39 pm (UTC)
Can we skip the belly-button-bugs? And the fusing of mouths shut? And the suspended-in-pink-jelly-ness? We're still on the first damn movie, here!

Angeal... with red hai- *imagines* AAAAAAUGH! THE HORROR!
I'll never eat Chees-Its again! Thankfully they don't sell them here.
Wednesday, June 9th, 2010 11:43 pm (UTC)
I dunno D: I never got her name but I've been searching for her online since XD If I find her I will let you know~
Thursday, June 10th, 2010 01:20 pm (UTC)
Awwwww... Thank you. I take that as a really huge compliment :)

Sometimes I'm worried that people might get mildly upset with me for connecting everything to music and lyrics, so it's always good to know that there are fellow souls out there who understand.

I really hope that, too.

Technically, I assume I could still play it, but practically, I don't have a piano anymore (I've been thinking about getting a keyboard for quite a while now, but I'm afraid I won't have time to play really).
If I find some time during the summer holidays, I'll try to find the old piano sheets and see if I could adapt it for the harp. It's one of those songs that would actually sound good... (but I'll have to see, since I have a harp that is limited in some way when it comes to tonality. I can't switch keys while playing, so if the song does, I'm pretty much stuck.)
Saturday, June 12th, 2010 07:38 pm (UTC)
Oh, I just realized I forgot to add something:

The only really cheesy song that goes with a certain scene in my original story ("Making love out of nothing at all" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BJ4wDIs21Mk , mainly because of the certain passages in its lyrics) has - funny coincident - a 'background-melody-baseline' similar to "Everything I do" (meaning it uses the same notes and a similar way of paying with them; in the piano versions of both songs, it's even more obvious).
Monday, June 14th, 2010 03:48 am (UTC)
But that all happened in the first movie. *looks innocent*

Genesis: "'Geal with red hair...horrifying."

Please tell me you at least have Pop Tarts.
Monday, June 14th, 2010 03:50 am (UTC)
I like!
Monday, June 14th, 2010 11:47 am (UTC)
I like you.

: D
Monday, June 14th, 2010 11:52 am (UTC)
Yes, but I don't want it to happen while we're battling in the rain! That'd be totally distracting!

Mmm, only you and Miss Ammy can pull it off.
You work it physically, and she works it phsycologically.
Teamwork.

Well, yes, but they're difficult to come by and very expensive.
You have to get involved with the black market and all that, and then they're, like, $15 for a box of 6. *sigh* My friend said she'd send me some, but I'm still waiting on them...
I hear there are crazy new flavours.
Monday, June 14th, 2010 11:02 pm (UTC)
Oh, this is pretty...

LOL, for some reason, I'm getting an image of Zack and Angeal slow-dancing. *happy sigh*
Monday, June 14th, 2010 11:05 pm (UTC)
Hmm, yes. Especially since I can't see when my glasses get wet.

:) Pervert Twin Powers - Activate!

Black market...for Pop Tarts. You are a crazy people. Yes, many flavors, but mostly ugh. I stick to the chocolate fudge or the cinnamon.
Tuesday, June 15th, 2010 10:27 am (UTC)
Oh, that's true, also. *contemplates the water-resistance of her own glasses*

Chocolate fudge?! What in Dickens' name...?!
I haven't had a Pop Tart for... about a decade. : | I miss those little guys. Cinnamon sounds like triple-super-duper-cinnamon-deluxe-and-a-half to me, right now.
Tuesday, June 15th, 2010 12:44 pm (UTC)
That's exactly the problem... most cheesy songs are just sooo pretty (some get annoying when you listen to them to much though).

In a way, this song goes very much with my characterization, as I have one character who is quite used to being popular and to always knowing exactly what to do (as the lyrics imply), until one day he meets this other person who seems 'not his type' for so many reasons, but manages to simply sweep him off his feet.

Oh yeah, those mental images... (a friend of mine once randomly mentioned 'Hojo in a string', and I took me quite a while to get rid of that image.)
They make you do weird things. Like having a dance scene between Angeal and Gen in my multichapter at some point. It sounds hilarious (and I actually did it for a bit of 'comic relief'), but I can assure you that it's justified (I had to come up with a good reason, since it's a serious story). Still, it wasn't slow-dancing...

*hugs* to America!
Wednesday, June 16th, 2010 10:56 pm (UTC)
Even with the cheese, I'm enjoying it. Angeal and Zack keep wondering why I stare at them all dreamily when I play it, though. :)

Hojo...string...oh Gaia.

Sephy: "I have to...go now. Excuse me."

:) *hugs back*
Wednesday, June 16th, 2010 11:01 pm (UTC)
Water-resistant? Clearly you have technology we lack, and I demand you hand it over, lest I be forced to send troops in. *wonders if we have any troops free*

They're devious, though. I don't think they're proper tarts at all. Aren't tarts supposed to be like little pies? Educate me, fellow former-English cousin.
Thursday, June 17th, 2010 11:26 am (UTC)
... Actually, I developed the technology myself, but I'm willing to share.
Simply rub butter on the lenses of your spectacles.

I think tarts just have to contain some kind of jam-like filling. So technically they are tarts.
My grandma makes these little biscuits and puts jam on top and tells me they're tarts, so I'm pretty flexible with pastry names.
Thursday, June 17th, 2010 11:50 am (UTC)
Exactly. My reaction was similar to Sephy's, but unfortunately, I couldn't escape the mental image that easily (*shivers*).

Hojo is the most unsexy (does that word even exist?) person in the entire game, in my opinion (he even beats Hollander by far...).

That is the reason why I don't have a Hojo-muse around here. There's a Hollander-muse though, but he is locked into the bottom drawer of my desk.

I prefer staring at certain other muses. Sometimes even dreamily... ;)

(though Sasha-muse always complains when I stare at Alan-muse for too long... According to him, only he has the right to do so.)

More *hugs*
Friday, June 18th, 2010 03:00 pm (UTC)
I think the butter is even harder to see through than the rain. Ugh, this is gonna be a pain to clean off...

I will call them pseudo-tarts. That's as far as I'm willing to go.
Saturday, June 19th, 2010 10:11 am (UTC)
Suit yourself.
They're going to come after you, though.
