Which is my confusing, MTS3K way of telling you all that I caved and now am at Dreamwidth too. I don't plan to post there, at least not yet, just read and reply, but by all means, Friend me and I'll Friend you back! Or however it works there. *does not adjust well to new places* You can find me here.
By which I mean Amarissia is tired, was dragged all over town by Militant Vegan Sister to antique shops (she works in one and is often sent to spy on the others :)), and all over this fun little bazaar by the beach, and it was HOURS, and CROWDED, OMG. Made Amarissia a bit twitchy, but I'm getting better.
Marchwarden has just made me giggly with glee and the lovely Mona has made me feel warm and fuzzy toward humans for a little while, so now armed with my trusty booklight I shall see if I can't do my meditation and write into the night. Just a few things first...
One, Cloud was inspired by Mona's video and may be popping through any of your portals at any time to offer hugs. So if he shows up, just give him a good squeeze and send him back, since it's nearly his bedtime.
Two, up to episode 63 of Bleach and I seem to have finished an arc. YAY! I still really like it, but yike, I can hardly keep track of who I'm supposed to be hating. I have noticed that villains are allowed to speechify or flashback for whole episodes. This is a very slow-moving series, but I'm much more concerned for Ichigo. He seems to lose more blood per episode than most humans possess.
Three, good night all, and I hope you're having a lovely weekend. In the words of the great John Cleese, "You have the head of a cookie. I want to eat it."
superkalifragi recently posted a link to an interesting documentary from the BBC about the state of love and romance in Japan. I highly recommend checking it out, it haz mentions of yaoi and very realistic blow-up dolls.
One of the few blogs I read has been weighing in on this topic lately too, and he always has interesting stuff to say. Originally Gaijin Smash, you can now find him at Gaijin Chronicles. This guy is hilarious and gives some good insight into what living in Japan is like for a foreigner.
...I think I've found the right title for the Madness sequel. I'm tentatively calling it The Measure of a Man. I wanted something to go with the first story's title, and this one will work with the story. So, you guys like, or no?
Also, I was asked if I'd provide a little sample of what I have so far.
Success, snagged the shirt I wanted! Also had a fangirl moment. My mall's selection of anime memorabilia is tiny, but I found and just had to buy a keychain of L in his usual crouching pose. I shall wear it on my purse in honor of my very first anime. That is how I rationalize spending six bucks on a keychain. :)
Also got comfy socks (I have such a thing for socks it's a borderline fetish, rather like many women with shoes), which my aching feet are thanking me for. And a French-English dictionary, because I'm trying to brush up on my old first foreign language. Then I got the hell out of Barnes & Noble, because one of those skank 'Real Housewives' is doing a book-signing and I didn't want to risk being contaminated. I comforted myself with a nice milkshake, felt slightly ill after eating too many french fries, and now I am ready to unwind in my pjs and maybe get some writing done.
All in all, I handled the day well, got all my assignments in on time and haven't freaked out and terrified the normies lately. Much. So...pretty good. I hope you all, my dears, are having a nice day. If you see the Choir, tell them they're back on duty and I want them here pronto.
By which I mean, AGH, my whole county had massive power failure brownout while I was, of all places, the mall. Yeah. Suddenly it was like being in a bad zombie movie. I got home, spent some time weeping and shaking because I do not do the unexpected well, but it's back on, THANK GOD. I love you, electricity.
Of course, it happened when I had JUST found a shirt I liked in Lane Bryant, which never happens. Now I just have to hope it'll still be there...hopefully tomorrow. We'll see.
Now I'm off to meditate and write, wish me luck!
"Whoa, we get to have sex in the first chapter? Okay, maybe this won't be so bad."
That one courtesy of Zack, who very naughtily sneaked a peek at the small bit of work I've done on the Madness sequel. Seriously, when I figure out the title, that's when it'll start coming. I'm starting to get annoyed that I know the ending and have to get to it...well, I've known the ending since the middle of Madness, I just never thought I'd actually write it. :)
Other things are going well...the Choir are their usually spirited selves, and school is going awesomely. Seriously, I love it, I'm so glad I decided to do it, and everyone I've interacted with at Kaplan has been great. And coming from someone who doesn't like people, that's saying a lot. If any of you get interested, I'd be happy to answer questions about it. College - facing real people = GOOD.
In anime news, watching Welcome to the NHK, where the main character is a hikkikomori, someone who has completely withdrawn socially, so I can relate. And he sounds like Chris Patton, which makes it even better.
I'm actually determined to get some writing done tonight, so that'll do for this update. Oyasuminasai, darlings...
By which I mean I used to make videos for FFVII (not very good ones, though I am proud of one of them) and now I've made one for FullMetal Alchemist. I've been wanting to do this since I first heard the song "Held" by Natalie Grant, and though I wasn't sure my little laptop could handle it, I'm fairly happy with how it turned out.
Comments are welcome, if you choose to watch! :)
Ooh, a fanfic writer's meme!
o1. What fandoms have you written for? Italicize your currently active ones!
Short answer here...Final Fantasy VII, Death Note, Yami No Matsuei...I think that's it. Aside from early, pre-game and anime stuff that I cringe to think of now.
o2. What pairings and genres do you find yourself writing over and over?
Zangeal, angst. I may have to rename them Zangstgeal. I am capable of pure silliness, though. Ask me what I once did to Silence of the Lambs.
o3. What's one fic you've written that you think is kinda under appreciated?
I think they're rather overappreciated, actually.
o4. What characters do you write so in-character it's kinda scary? Why do you do it so damned well!?
Hmm, I don't think I write anyone particularly in-character. I've been complimented a lot on my Sephiroth, and I do find him probably the easiest character to write. He's socially-inept and isolated; I know that well.
o5. What genres and characters are outside of your comfort zone? Why?
Pure, smushy romance isn't uncomfortable for me, but I don't think I could write without making everyone barf at the cheesiness. Het is icky to me in writing, so that's out. And a lot of people have asked me for another humor story a la Silence of the Chocobos, but I think I used up all my humor in that one. Now what's left goes in the Decorum series.
Cloud has become hard to write as part of a pairing, since I have the chibi version bouncing around asking me to hug him, but I'm trying not to let this impact Decorum.
o6. What are the best three fanfics, in your opinion, that you've ever written? Link us, please!
Hands-down, number one is The Madness of Angels. I don't even know how I pulled it off. And if the love for that one gets any more extreme, I may end up responsible for a cult.
Let's see...number two. I'm pretty happy so far with Pendulum, but it's still in progress and slow-going.
Finally...I don't know. I'm actually pretty proud of The Silence of the Chocobos. I wanted to do something I hadn't seen before - combine serious drama with total crack, and I think it worked.
o7. Pick out three lines from the fics in question 6 that are gonna knock our socks off.
Agh. I think I'll pass, if you don't mind.
o8. Have you ever won an award for a fanfic?
I actually don't remember...I don't think so...
o9. How long have you been writing for? Can you find a short passage from an early work to show us your improvement?
I started too long ago to remember. I don't remember NOT writing. And dear Gaia, no. Let's just agree that I've gotten better. :)
1o. What inspires you to write a fanfic?
A happy mood, often induced by reading other people's fanfic that I like. Playing/watching the canon and wondering what if this, what if that. All of you guys. And naturally, the Choir. :)
Anyone else wanna give this a whirl?
Our littlest Choir member (not counting Near, Patrick, Silverstream and the fishies) has just been carried home by Sephiroth, too sleepy to give me much of an account, but apparently he had a lovely and busy birthday. He asked me to thank all of you who wished him a happy one, and he hopes all of you also had a nice day. Then he mumbled happily about the large number of butterflies he saw until he drifted back to sleep. :)
I have been and shall continue to pass on your hugs and nice words to him, once he wakes up. Amarissia has just come from class and was about to enjoy a nice round of let's-bait-the-pro-lifer, but alas, class ended before I got a chance. It's a sick hobby of mine to rile up people about religion and such and then behave impeccably myself, so the other party looks even crazier. I know, bad Amarissia.
Oh, what I could have done to those protestors on opening day of The Da Vinci Code, if my mom hadn't seen my intention and gently dragged me to the car...memories...
Hugs and good night, all.
Yes, 'tis Cloud's birthday. The Choir (except for Genesis, who's off playing nurse with his boyfriend) are all off for the day, probably being gleefully dragged around Gaia by Cloud. And Zack mentioned something to me about a party tonight with Tifa and the rest, you know, Cloud's merry circle of eco-terrorist nakama. So although the Choir said they'd check in now and then, I'm pretty much alone for the day. It's very strange to not have them being noisy and teasing each other in the background.
Even though Cloud isn't here, I thought a video in his honor would be nice. Here's a nice tribute I found on YouTube.
Happy Birthday to all the Clouds out there, and to the Gloomy!Canon!Cloud who originally came forth from Nomura's crazy fanboy brain. :)
That got your attention, didn't it? :)
Nothing important, really. All is wonderfully quiet, because Militant Vegan Sister and mom have gone to a Paul McCartney concert. M.V. Sister apparently plans to call me so I can listen in a bit, but I hate phones, so I'm not looking forward to it. But I'm willing to indulge her excitement.
In other news, my Aunt Flo(w) has not arrived yet (and may never again, who knows), but she thoughtfully sent her sisters Cramps and Emotional Disturbance ahead. Nice. The only plus here is that this time is usually productive for me creatively. The bad news is that I really, REALLY want to go ahead and start the Madness sequel.
Zack: "That is bad."
Genesis: "It is not! I get to be in it!"
It's bad because of the pressure involved. I need to do way more brainstorming and access the part of my brain that the original Madness came from 'cause hell if I know how it happened, and speaking of pressure, look what I happened across?
Either way, it'll still be a long wait, so no pre-emptive squeeing, 'kay? :)
Am currently tearing hair out looking for good subbed version of episode seven of Kuroshitsuji season 2. If anyone has link, would appreciate it.
I so can't type anymore, and am just pre-menstrual enough to want to strangle a large number of people over this.
EDIT: Okay, found one that worked. Apparently Chrome is just less bitchy than IE at the moment. Also, this show is damaging my psyche. Why are we letting Cloud watch it? Where is Cloud anyway?
Zack: "Your frothing scared him. Seph went to get him and tell him it's okay."
Bad Amarissia. *sigh*
THE GET-LAID PLANS OF DESPERATE GEN
Fandom: Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core
Pairing: Zangeal, Genesis/Sephiroth implied
Warning(s): Adult themes, sex, language, kink, objects.
Description: Eager to spice up his sex life with Sephiroth, Genesis hatches a plan that doesn't turn out quite as he expected.
LOL, must share a yaoi anime I just discovered. It is gay and hilarious and so odd, and you can find it here. You'll need to register with yaoi-haven.com, but it's free and quick and so worth it. The anime is called Kachou No Koi, and it is utter weirdness. The title of this post is a quote from it. Truer words were never spoken, methinks.
*scurries back to finish watching*
ADDENDUM: There is a squirrel selling sex toys. I feel like I've fallen into Genesis's subconscious.
